Solo: A Star Wars Story

Of the other actors that auditioned for the role (or even who didn’t) who do you think would have been a better fit? Not being a jerk, just curious. I mean I think this guy was a better pick than Miles Teller or Dave Franco...
I really don't know who all auditioned. I don't think Franco or Teller fit either. I do think with their resources they could have found someone who more resembled Ford in looks and mannerisms. From what I've seen in these trailers..admittedly not much..he doesn't have that charisma at all. Plus he looks like a stiff midget.

That’s the second time you’ve used this phrase. What exactly is a “stiff midget”?

A really short dude with no charisma...It is just a mean way of saying it..I confess, but it reflects my anger at the producers for the horrible casting of Han Solo.

I’m torn on the guy. Lucas did such a good job finding a young Alec Guiness in Ewin McGreggor but the age disparity was much wider. I remember a TV Guide lenticular cover from around the time TPM came out that changed between young and old Obiwan and you could easily by they were the same person.

This one is strange because it’s only about 7-8 years before ANH. The guy looks nothing like Ford so it’s going to be up to him to capture the spirit of Han Solo without trying to imitate Harrison Ford. I haven’t seen enough to say he’s failed or succeeded with that but a few lines in the trailers give me some hope.

Guess we will find out in a couple of weeks.

Bradley Cooper looks much more like a young Harrison Ford but maybe he’s not young enough for this role.

Read that based off Chewbacca’s age in the trailer that this takes place approximately 10 years after Revenge of the Sith.... or about 10 years before ANH from a certain point of view.

FWIW some TFA prequel book mentioned Chewie was 180 years old at the Battle of Kaashyaak (sic).

I'm personally glad they've cast unknowns for Rogue One and Solo.

I don't care if they are unknown, there are a lot of great actors that are unknown. My thing is Han Solo has a established physical presence, cadence, personality and charisma. Some guy earlier called it imitating Harrison Ford, which is not really true. The actor chosen is supposed to BECOME Han Solo in more than just wardrobe.

Han Solo in this movie is really Woody, watch. Woody is going to end up as Han's mentor, which, if done right, will show us where Han got some of his beliefs and other ways of thinking and doing things, adding that with his already cockiness and charisma. Some scenes from the trailers, makes me think this young actor can pull it off, while others don't. Still looks like a fun movie, so I'm going to this one, which is rare. But like I said earlier, the wife wants to go with me, which is even rarer when it comes to Sci-fi and comc book movies. So that makes it a stone cold lock date night. Hit a decent restaurant, the Solo movie, the bar and the date continues back at home, like the good ol' days, 13 years ago.

Any canon book or otherwise ever indicate how long the average Wookie’s life extends?

I don't remember reading it anywhere in the new cannon stuff. I think I remember reading somewhere in the old books that 400-500 years was average, but I can't remember for sure.
