Solo: A Star Wars Story

Was on vacation for a week and just caught up last night. What. In. The. Actual. Fsck. Was. That?

Ha. I didn’t realize it at the one but that was Donald Glover playing the really weird dude. Apparently he stayed in character on set.

Didn’t expect that episode but it was entertaining.

Took me about 25 minutes into the episode until I realized it was him. Thought the episode was so amazingly odd and just the right amount of creepy until the very end. Didn’t ruin the episode or anything but thought they could’ve left it more creepy than violent.

Early reactions a positive saying Glover steals the show and Han actor does very well.

Maybe Ron Howard is the savior after all.

Going to see Solo tonight (I think) but reading the reviews and story line guess who makes an appearance at the end of the film:

Maul.

Just got out of my early showing and I absolutely loved it. It was a lot better than the Last Jedi I thought.

Anyone else see it? Another site I visit with a lot of traffic is giving it a MEH

Just got back. It's a fun ride! There are quite a few LOL moments, and the movie certainly answers (and creates) some questions. It was weird seeing Daenerys and Maeve in different roles.

I thought it was very very good. Leagues better than TLJ. The surprise at the end is what really made it. I don’t think they’d throw that character in just willy-nilly.

I really enjoyed it. Critics reviews are spot on, the first 30 minutes or so is a little much, it’s basically non-stop action with little to no attempt to build a plot-line or elaborate on why you should care who lives or dies during these action scenes.

As the movie progresses however, it really taps into its strong points. Lots of smuggling, lots of backstabbing, and some pretty fun action scenes.

There is definitely a moment towards the end that’s already been mentioned in the spoiler tags and it’s quite the interesting turn of events in the Star Wars world.

I do have one bit of a gripe... the comic relief in this one was a droid, and it seemed to me they tried to cash in on the popularity of K-2SO in Rogue One, but it was a failed attempt. She caused a few chuckles here and there, but ultimately she was flat. The scene that made the audience erupt with laughter the most didn’t involve her.

Nah.

But to be fair I really liked TLJ. I’m not aboard the “Leia flew through space for 8 seconds and therefore it was an awful movie” train

It’s bad for more than that. But that’s my biggest gripe with. If there’s a payoff in IX then I’ll forgive a lot of it but to just kill off Snoke with no backstory and to have Rey be a nobody (which could still possibly change) are two flaws imo.

There’s also bad editing, there’s literally a seen where you can see Rey was supposed to be stabbed in the back while fighting but they edited out the knife so Rey still flinches but isn’t hit by anything. But hey Star Wars has always had a few little editing flaws here and there.

For me of the new movie it’s:
RO
Solo

TFA

TLJ
