Solo: A Star Wars Story

Just got out of Solo. I thought it was pretty good overall. A bit sluggish at times. Thought it was a solid backstory on Han and Chewy. Tied into the heart of his character really well. I got a good kick out of all the Easter eggs. From Chewy tearing off arms and Lando’s bounty hunter disguise from RotJ all the way to Han and Lando doing a reverse of their greeting in Empire. I actually thought they set up a sequel really well.

So is Qi’Ra a force user and Maul plans on training her? We’ll probably never find out.... in a movie at least.

Oh and Donald Glover absolutely nailed Bill Dee’s cadence.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. I want to see how they tie in Maul. I don’t think they’d bring him in just for some cameo appearance.

I finally saw it today. I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it much better than TLJ. It’s a fun movie, the guy playing Lando nailed it, and I thought the guy playing Han did well also, although no one could be Harrison Ford. A couple of characters were annoying but at least the were killed off quickly. If you’re a Star Wars fan, then I think it’s solidly behind the original triology and RO.

Finally saw this yesterday and I don't understand the hate. I thought it was a lot of fun. I know I really enjoyed it and the time seemed to move by pretty quick.

I was fairly impressed with the acting. In particular Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian I've never been a fan of the character but he did a good job of portraying Billy Dee Williams who portrayed Lando. (Unlike some however I have no interest in a Lando film)

I'm not familiar with Alden Ehrenreich but I think he did an okay job as Han as good as anyone could portraying Harrison Ford.

I didn't even realize that Q'ra was Emilia Clarke until now making sure I had the names spelled right. So her character with that ending do we know her by another name?

Not as good as the Force Awakens or Rogue one but I really did enjoy it.

I give it a 4 out of 5!

Most of the people who hate this movie haven't seen it. Anyone who has seen it seems to like it fairly well.

Just saw the movie last night, and I don't understand the hate it has been receiving. TBH, I enjoyed it more than TFA or TLJ.

My only complaint would be that some of the scenes were a bit too dark (like a dark filter over the screen). Other than that, I would give the movie a solid 9/10.

I thought it was dark too often as well. Also some of the sets seemed cramped or small for a Star Wars movie... if that makes sense. Like there wasn’t a lot of scenery in the background.

Perhaps the thing I appreciated most about the movie was how they went all out with the costume designs. That’s what made it feel like a real Star Wars movie to me.

I actually read an article about this other other day. It's something to do with some theaters not having the proper equipment to display it properly based on the colors used and the way it was shot. They jokingly suggested that the cinematographer should sue because the movie is actually really great looking if shown correctly.

Geez.... 9/10?

I mean I liked it a lot but....

Saw it today. Fun movie. Liked that they left it open for more movies on this storyline. Great action scenes. Humorous enough. And it didn't take itself too seriously.

Solid 8/10, if for no other reason that it's just entertaining

Good movie. Definitely worth seeing. Not sure why people are hating on it so much. It's not revolutionary or going to be in the top 3 of SW movies, but that's not a knock against it.

8/10.

I liked it better than TLJ. Fun to see what the Kessel run was all about.

That’s a shame. Wasn’t really the movie’s fault. Disney/Lucasfilm skrewed up with the May release. Competing with IW and DP2 combined with the still relatively fresh butthurt over TLJ it was doomed to underperform at the box office.

Pretty much. I don't really care as much about the Boba Fett movie not happening, but I really wanted the Obi-Wan movie. Hopefully they'll decide to go ahead with that one.

Pretty knee jerk to pause all spin offs due to one movie with extenuating circumstances.

As someone that liked TLJ I could totally see the Rian Johnson branch get benched before these spinoffs. I’m interested in the direction he wants to go but I would totally understand why after the way TLJ divided the fan base.

And it's box office take (a month from it's release), is really not that bad relative to most movies. It's grossed $196 million domestically and $343 million worldwide. It's a flop by Star Wars standards but still...
