Some unnoticed things from Bama win

AL rushing: 31 carries, 114 yards, 3.7 yds avg
TN rushing: 39 carries, 182 yards, 4.7 yds avg

To me, these numbers are a testament to both our lines. OL and DL are both for real.
In all fairness, some of this TD runs for Bama would have gone for 70 if they were further back that 25-30 yards.

Yes, indeed. For our justifiably vaunted passing attack, chew on these rushing stats: 42-227 and 3 tds. vs. Florida; 49-263 and 2 tds. vs. LSU; and 39-182 and 2 tds. vs. Alabama. There are no defensive slouches in there, but we are averaging, thus far, 224 ypg on the ground and 5.17 ypc against SEC competition.
Our backs are good. But if we had a couple of elite backs just think of what those numbers would be.

Maybe we should send him an orange and white thank you card. 😆
Will Anderson is his name and he will probably be the first defensive player taken in the draft. Darnell Wright totally dominated him this game. It was so bad they moved him to the other side trying to get him involved.

- Slaughter looked better than McCullough has all season.

- Uhm.😳...did anyone see Koolaid Mkinstry get tackled by Darnell Wright??
Yeah the sideline was an extra defender but he couldn't best the pursuit angle or shake him lol.
- Jaylin Wright all 205 lbs of him dragging Bama's LBs!
Slaughter whiffed on a tackle on Gibbs in the backfield that ended up being a TD.

McCollough is very important to our run defense and getting the calls for the back end. Flowers is terrible at tackling in open space and Slaughter didn't look much better. And pass defense as a whole was bad. Wo

Yeah a lot of people wiffed on Gibbs.
And I saw him tackle Gibbs twice in the open field as well. You can't just focus on one damn play

Multiple times i saw Slaughter go down hill and get physical in the box. All of them suck in pass coverage.

McCullough barks around but has NEVER laid the hat to someone. Routinely out of position... And is always giving up 1st down.

I think we lose that game if McCullough had played...

Here is what I noticed after rewatching.

Tennessee won in literally every aspect of that game………it was only close because of Bama’s talent and Young’s ability to create in spite of his protection and receivers and they had the ball 15 more minutes.

Tennessee’s O was better
Tennessee’s D was better
Both Tennessee’s lines were better
Tennessee’s special teams was better
Tennessee’s coaching was better
Tennessee’s run game was better
Tennessee’s QB had the better game

Offense:
Hooker = 12.8 yards per pass (not completion)
Young = 8.75

Tennessee = 4.7 yards per run
Bama = 3.7

Defense:
Tennessee gave up 8.75 per attempt
Bama gave up 12.42

Tennessee gave up 114 yards rushing at 3.7
Bama gave up 182 at 4.7

Tennessee’s D gave up 42 points
Bama gave up 52

Special Teams:
Bama missed a possible winning kick, fumbled on a punt return and had 3 penalties on kicks.

Tennessee missed 1 extra point but made a game winning kick.

Coaching:
Bama was extremely undisciplined having 17 penalties. They could not scheme to keep pressure off Young (he just has to do it himself). Bama also could not scheme to get pressure on Hooker. Bama also made terrible coaching decisions near the end not to run the ball, which left time on the clock for Tennessee.

Tennessee obviously saw something on kickoffs and abused Bama with that. Bama either called for a fair catch or they got a penalty……the shorter kicks were amazing. You think “why” but they get them called back every single time. Tennessee also knew they had a total mismatch on Hyatt and again they abused Bama all night on that. Tennessee also forced Bama to play a longer game by stopping their run (most than it had been all year) keeping pressure on Young which allowed for more mistakes. The coaching job was amazing.

Hooker had a few less yards, but he did so on WAY less plays. He accounted for way more TD’s, his rating was better, his % was better……literally everything except yards.

the score shows a 3 point win…….but Tennessee won in every facet of that game!!!

McCollough literally helped stuff multiple runs against LSU. The whole secondary has been out if position all year of you haven't noticed by how many yards they've given up. It's not all McCollough. Tim Banks' gameplan vs the pass has been awful. We leave 8 yd cushions over WRs in Cover 0 which is putting the DB in a horrible position. Burrell was a liability, Charles is in over his head, Hadden is hurt, and Turnage hasn't really done much either. McDonald has been good at times. McCollough is the best tackling DB on the team. Maybe not the best in coverage but there's a reason he plays SS.

I caught that sly observation made by one of the commentators about Keyton's reception that went for a couple of yards. I love that young Man's effort ! He goes after each ball like it's the last one he'll ever get. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Him starting next season.

Yeah I know. Our OL handled their business. I loved seeing us push their DL down the field to get those couple of rushing 1st downs.

Darnell is a dude. Great effort on that play, not to mention neutering Will Anderson.

Wright runs with grit. Really impressive last night and at LSU. Our two main running backs are similar to our interior d-linemen: neither is elite, but both are very good, and sometimes good with depth is better than elite without it. Wright is still only a true sophomore. He is going to be a load next year, and if the freshmen come on in pass pro, watch out. Add a guy from the portal like Bama has with Gibbs or even Ole Miss with Evans? Sheesh…
Omari Thomas is one of the best tackles in the conference.

Oh yeah I meant to bring up how good Slaughter looked!

Dude was all over the field!

I noticed that Alabama fans are waking up to the fact that 1. What makes college football great has nothing to do with them and 2. A large majority of CFB fans around the country rejoiced at thier loss!
