Mike Anderson was listed as a possible next coach in this thread - I think he would be an outstanding hire for Tennessee. I also think we wouldn't be able to dream of luring him from Mizzou if not for the last four years of UT Basketball.

Do you see West Virginia, UCONN, Cincinnati, or Kansas State on his list? If you know anything about DC/Baltimore area AAU politics, that speaks volumes. I'm still trying to find the post where I changed my opinion of Selby because of where he is now looking to go to school. Oh, that's right. It doesn't exist.

I used to really like Pearl, his coaching has disappointed me over the past couple of years. He has either made some embarrassing mistakes in recruiting or he cannot land the guys needed to take us to the next level. I'm not sure he can keep us at the current level for that matter.

I'm still waiting for proof as well.
To indicate he is "likely" on NBA player's payroll and a "consultant" for NIKE would require the same proof.

We all know that the proof is "likely" to never be found due to the nature of the situation.

I'm not trying to argue. I just thought it was humorous to leave off one of the primary individuals involved in this thread.

Which has nothing to do with my opinion of Selby. If the names Huggins, Calhoun, Cronin, and Martin aren't involved with a kid from that area, I assume the kid is really defective until proven otherwise.

I guarantee they were just as legitimate as Calipari's players. I find it amazing to sit back and pretend like Tony Jones is part of the Detroit mafia without providing any real evidence other than "the people you talk to" while at the same time holding up WWWes and Calipari just playing by the rules.

Yeah, because other D-I coaches would have no idea what kind of people the guys Jones hangs out with are about. You may fool the orange overall mouthbreathers who don't know the first thing about basketball with your Pearl slurping whining. Doesn't work on people who are actually plugged in. Go sell stupid somewhere else.

I just think most people enjoy winning games, but realize we aren't part of the team. Not everybody feels the need to name drop on an anonymous board, about a sport most never played at a high level. You do have a lot of good insight, which I enjoy as I live out in ca, but you just come across as a tool. Some of your posts are funny, I'll concede that.

At the risk of being called a Pearl slurper, I am going to say that I think the poster in this thread with the most basketball knowledge and the poster in this thread with the most biased opinion are the same guy.

When have I ever hidden that I don't personally like Bruce Pearl? My antipathy for him doesn't change the fact his teams are trainwrecks in the halfcourt on both ends and he just spent one of the most important 10 day periods in college basketball on a family vacation.

Hat, I have never resorted to personal attacks against you. I respect your knowledge of the game and knowledge of the recruiting process. I certainly don't appreciate the personal jabs, but I guess that comes with the territory with you because instead of actually responding to the question posed to you, you respond with a smartass degradation of the poster questioning your "superior" knowledge of all things basketball. I find it funny, even though other D-1 Coaches obviously know of Tony Jones unethical behavior according to you, that you can't name one shady person he is associated with. Yet, with John Calipari, with whom you supposedly share casual conversations, is notorious for shady dealings and being involved with shady people, and you defend that as just "being more plugged in." I understand that you hate Pearl; but my God, don't be so insulting to everyone that questions some of your outrageous accusations of which your provide no evidence other than your being "plugged in." Tony Jones is part of the same Detroit crew that gave the world upstanding guys like Vic Adams and Perry Watson. After Adams got Missouri busted and Watson introduced Chris Webber to Ed Martin, only the slime of the slime keeps close ties with the Detroit scene. That means our staff is right at home recruiting up there.

I also love how people demonize WWWes while giving Pearl as pass on his realtionship with the Pump brothers. Then again, given it's our fan base, I get it. If your hookup is fat white ticket scalpers, you're clean. On the other hand, if your consultant is a black guy from Camden, you have to be shady. Typical Tennessee logic.
