Something that caught my eye....

Not an idiot and yes depth was an issue... and likely to be even more of one this year.

US businesses spend billions on trying to make their employees positive rather than negative even in the way the company evaluates and criticizes itself... many more billions on trying to create a uniformly positive image with the public... so yeah, I'd say greater minds than ours see the value of being positive rather than negative.

It isn't. The standard at UT should be championships. If you'll remember, I have said that if he doesn't have it going in the right direction by the end of year two that UT should cut the losses. I don't believe that low standards ever create excellence at anything. It IS negative to criticize each minute detail of everything the guy does and declare him a complete failure right NOW with no chance of redemption.

Thank you for an excellent example of negativism and exaggerating a criticism completely beyond what the actual facts support.

No. The guy doesn't run to every camera he sees. No. He didn't share every detail of what he was doing or why he was doing it.

He HAS however begun to engage the media more now that things have settled down a little. Those things can now rise on the list of priorities.

He has NOT "b****ed and moaned" about negativity every time he's spoken. That is an "untrue" statement by you.

OK, OK... let's get this straight. You don't like the hire therefore EVERYTHING must be seen through a 100% negative lense to be realistic, right? Beyond that, since you have already preordained in your omniscience and omnipotence that he will fail... he must therefore be linked to Fulmer who you also don't like.

Yep. You are an icon of reason.
+1:hi:

And it's your right. I still think it's a bit much.

I just think it's hard to sit there and act like these recruits don't, at the least, take into somewhat consideration what is said on here. I mean, why do we all come on here?? Mostly for information right, and some fun?? Kids searching for their home for the next four years are probably going to use it for more information about what to expect from us than anything else.

And yet people continue to talk trash about our program. Unreal

You say one thing and a group of people give you crap for it. It almost makes me think they insult others just cover up their own personal insecurity and it makes them feel better. I like CDD, and I think he is right.

Eric, no recruit worth their Rivals ranking is going to make a college decision based on what some message board idiots said about them.

You are never going to convince anyone of that.

If you feel this strongly about this issue why not "sticky" a message to recruits? It takes it off of the posters and INFORMS the recruits.

Then your point is moot.

So, because it's not absolutely the sole reason, my point doesn't matter?? There are many things that are taken into consideration in the end, so my point stands that we can have an effect. We will never know the true effect, but we will none the less.

We have as much impact on a prospect's decision here in the VN recruiting forum as a flatulent fan in Neyland Stadium has on the outcome of a Daniel Lincoln kick.

That's never going to be something that tips the balance so your point is moot.

I get what you are saying, but I think you are overestimating our influence.

You don't know what these prospects take into consideration. People are fickle man, you know this. Sometimes the least little thing that wouldn't bother one person, gets on the other guys nerves really bad.

It's just the perception of things really. What's easier to sell, a program that has a positive fan base who supports their coach?? Or one that has many fans who can't wait for their HC to leave so they can get someone else?? Worked out great for Fulmer the last 4 years he recruited.

Influence aside, trash talking players in high school is pretty much ridic. I think what truly has an affect on a player's decision is the way we treat our current players... death threats, booing, etc. But that happens everywhere. Right?

If that is what tips the balance to the "I don't want to go there" side, then I'd much rather see him somewhere else. It never would though. Have you noticed that no one is agreeing with you? Sometimes that is an indicator of how valid your point is.

Now I'm moving on to a topic of relevance.

I think recruits will see what they want to see. If they want Neyland to be awesome, it will be. I've heard kids say how awesome Neyland was at some game where I thought the crowd was deflated and bored. On the other hand, if a kid wants to imagine that the team is racially divided, he'll see that, too.

I went to ESPN insider today to see what they had about Posey, most of the article was attributed to "Volnation.com"....I think that's fantastic, really cool, but it does come with responsibility.

I don't care if anyone agrees with me. If I did that, I would have stopped posting long ago.
