Something that caught my eye....

I think our football program is headed straight down the crapper. Why should I pretend otherwise?

If its headed down the crapper then your more than welcomed to join the gator nation and become a gator fan, nobody here will complain. What MH didnt hire your coach of choice ? If you wanted a different coach you should of pulled your check book out and went and got your coach of your choice.
Either get behind DD or find another team its that simple.

If was a recruit and came to this board, or any other board for that matter, I wouldnt pay any attention to all the people saying how the coaches dont know how to recruit and how the program is going down the crapper. I would have to remind myself that if these people knew one-tenth of what they think they do about football or any other sport they would be out recruiting or holding practices at a major college making the big bucks instead of sitting in front of a computer talking about crap they really dont know anything about.
:bash:

Everybody hates everybody!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Message board chatter is at worst another hurdle that the coaches have to cross in recruiting a prospect. It's one of the more easily handled ones too. If someone is making their college decision based on the things posted on an internet message board, then they are a) choosing a school for the wrong reasons and b) so ignorant that it forces you to wonder if they would truly be an asset to the program.

Eric, I encourage you to get over this obsession you have with message board talk and facebook/myspace usage by recruits. It's clear you do not completely get it.

1) Nobody on this board cares about your GPA or SAT score

2) Smart people don't have to resort to their GPA to tell other people that they are smart.
Indiana Volunteer reminds me of this guy:

And if someone throws out their GPA online, there is a 99.9% chance they are FOS.

Some of you people need to go root for another team. You are obviously not Tennessee Fans. You can hate Fulmer all you want, but he did win us a National Championship. He also has one of the best winning percentages in the history of college football. I agree that it was probably time for him to go, but I give the man his due. Dooley has not even coached a game yet and you want to crucify him. Give the guy a chance. I didn't know about it when he was named the coach, but seeing what he has done so far I am pretty optimistic. If you miss the idiot Kiffen so much, go root for USC.

You don't know jack **** about me or my experience.

as we've discussed before; hire the right person, who is qualified and negativity takes care of itself.
You keep telling me what I need to know. You can hire the most qualified person in the world, surround them with negativity, and they will fail.

If your solution worked, Dale Carnegie would have never made a dime in books or lectures. The 7 habits of highly effective people could be cut to one or two... life would be incredibly easy... because the right "hire" could fix everything.

I'm sorry but that is a naive point of view no matter what the subject is.

In the meantime, spare me your life stories.

Until a moderator tells me otherwise, I'll respond in the way I think is most fitting. If you can't handle the truth...

You know. Even if what you guys post is your sincere opinion then pure old pragmatism should temper some of the over the top stuff you post. If DD does work out then you'll be looking for cover... if he doesn't then there's more than enough time for those of us who are giving him a chance to say his performance didn't justify him keeping the job.

You're just setting yourselves up for abuse with nothing to gain.

What does anyone gain? You're advocating hedging on a board that exists on opinions. I can't decide whether to pity you or laugh.

like it or not , billboards, commercials, mag ads, and yes ignorant post on the internet, sometimes have an effect on peoples decisions.

They are kids, and kids aren't exactly the Albert Einstein's of making good decisions at that point in their lives. Some are more grounded than others, but they are still kids and any little thing can get embedded in their heads, positive or negative.

You know, after reading what I missed this afternoon, some of you will take the easy route and justifying a pessimistic attitude by calling it realism. I hate working with those people who feel like that all the time, it makes for LONG days of pulling out my hair.

Your campaign is still a futile one -- people will continue to bash recruits on message boards and coaches will continue to sign those players anyway.

Well, your campaign for Cam Newton starring in a pro-style offense was a futile one, but that didn't stop you from telling us like it was. Thanks for the heads up.

I must have missed something, I didnt think we were talking about bashing recruits, I thought we were talking about bashing the school /coaches they may or may not associate with in the future.

In two years Cam Newton will be playing in a pro style offense and getting paid for it and we will see who is cracking jokes.

I didn't know that there was a Spread offense in the NFL. He didn't take one snap from under center at their Spring game from what I could tell. Cam is not Tebow.
