Thats just it we have no way of knowing. But it does not take a brain surgeon to know that if a potential recruit were to come to these boards he would definitely not leave with a positive impression.

If he stopped around the average watering hole where the silly crap thinking that gets posted here starts he would not leave with a positive impression. And you know what other fan sites probably have similar themes going on but even that does not matter. The OP makes a perfect point. We the fans of our team are an extension of of UT recruiting. We can affect the outcomes of games and recruiting classes.

Trust me when the other team has the ball 105,000 screaming at the top of their lungs gets in your head while 90,000 grumblers get in OUR own teams head. Now imagine we have recruits visiting in both cases. UT fans used to be some of the best but sometime between 2000 and now it seems like everything changed.

You can't stop everyone from posting dangerous things but if the majority of Vols fans refuse to feed the trolls whether you agree with them or not the die out very fast. Trolls feed on attention and being scavengers they don't much care what kind of attention it is as long as it comes in their direction.

We as Vols fans should be a bit more responsible when we talk in places such as here is all I'm saying
because people are watching. I have watched these boards for years before ever posting. It is hard to find info on UT in any large volume outside of Knoxville or even in it. That makes sites like these a big draw for people wanting info on UT.

Your right they are different. But look at budgets ill bet Alabama dumps a lot more cash to finance football than Idaho and Utah combined. Money makes you successful in college football along with winning. Just ask USC about money problems. Dooley has more money to throw around here in the area of recruiting, and supporting cast.

The guy you are arguing has a point you do not. He is making a comparison that makes sense. The SEC is like the majors think of the WAC as AAA ball. You can't compare the competitiveness of AAA clubs directly to those of clubs in the majors because they don't play each other. Saying a Yankees/Braves competition level is not the same as Lookouts/Smokies competition level is asinine. It is apples to oranges the situations are too different and in fact one could argue that the competition level at the minors level is higher just the quality of play is lower. But organizationally one could argue that someone that took a bottom feeder program and put them in contention might do a good job at a higher level because organizationally they are the same.

At LATech he didn't have access to the same quality of athletes and facilities he does here. LATech was the equivalent of Vanderbilt in the WAC. And he not only took them to their first bowl since the 70's he won it and then got decimated by injuries the next season. If you actually look at the situation and the facts around it, the guy did a bang up job. The fact that the fan bases of 2 other non-bottom feeder teams in our conference have faith and interest in the guy should say something.

Lol call me a homer all you want, I'll be enrolling at Tennessee the fall of 2011 and it's gonna be effing awesome. With that said any people like you that I encounter I won't hesitate to lay the wood too. Just like jazen Jackson at the swamp last year boy!!

Realize that a lot of what you see here does not really represent the majority of fans here. This is the vocal minority. The drunk guys that get kicked out of bars and most find the thought of owning a library card as an act of communism. Please don't let them color your opinion of this great program.

So, before you go running your mouths about things, make sure you realize that our HC understands how message boards and other negative things our fan base creates because of articles and other things. Also, understand that it's not just on here that negativity can be spread in recruiting, sometimes it's just word or mouth that causes it to become an issue.

So, my best advice to those who like to spin things negatively on the coaches and program, be careful what you say and do, because you may just get your wish that we will suck. Because it's all about perception for these kids, so the more positive the better for our program, and the likely-hood that recruits will be more receptive to our school.

Every fanbase has these kinds of people. You're gonna run in to them everywhere, but i just dont understand putting down someone that hasn't even coached a game in a TOTALLY DIFFERENT SITUATION than before.
