regardless of what happens after the tournament. Regardless of whether Bruce stays or goes and ignoring any possible sanctions. We should be thankful for all the doors that Pearl has opened for UT.

1) We're well known on the national stage now
2) We've received a ton of facility upgrades since he started here and have some of the better facilities in the conference now.
3) He won. He won big and he provided a lot of entertainment to a fan base that was jaded from the string of coaching hires before him.
4) Again barring any possible sanctions, he left the program in a much better state than when he found it.

I don't like the man but I do appreciate everything he's done for UT. The wins over #1 Memphis, the Elite 8 run, all the upsets when people were saying we didn't have a chance. I spent a lot of time glued to the TV during the Pearl era. Some games I laughed when watching, some games I cried. Some games I went into a rage after we lost...but it doesn't take away from what Pearl has done by making UT a national player in basketball now.

I am sure that if Pearl leaves before June, then we will lose Hopson & Harris to the NBA.
Since Pearl put us in the ditch, so to speak, I think he is the best one to pull us out of the ditch.
What good coach will want to come to U.T. if/when we are on probation? We now have Pearl at a cheap price due to him re-structuring his contract. If Pearl stays, then
the recruits that are wanting to come here will come but with a new coach, they may not.
I hope Pearl stays BUT the worst situation would to get through this and a year or so from now, he commits more violations.

Very good post by the OP. Who knows what the NCAA will do? However, I think if Bruce resigns or is fired directly after the season is over, the penalties from the AA will be far less than if he stays. The great majority of the allegations are directly at BP and staff rather than the school. I like Bruce and what he's done here, but the university and the program > BP. We've got the best attourney we could have representing us against the NCAA, but the AA is bipolar. Maybe if he hadn't had the bump incident 3/4 days after the press conference, I would feel better about trying to work through it with him staying, but I think the AA is looking at him kind of like they're looking at LK, and will be going for blood.

Usually, the guy who puts you in the ditch is the guy who ends up failing the breathalizer and crying in handcuffs in the back of the squad car.

I was waiting for someone to say this. The person who drives you into a ditch is the person you want to stay the hell away from the wheel.

Dont forget the fact that under Bruce Pearl, The University of Tennessee MENS Basketball Team, was at one point, RANKED #1 in the country.

Short lived, but still they were Number 1

... that we don't live in Japan. And we can all #$@$* and moan (or cheer) over the state of our basketball program and whether or not our coach should stay or go
