Source: Tim Tebow named Broncos' starter

I still play him over Orton. If he keeps this up you cut him with confidence and get a higher draft pick. You get nothing as a franchise playing Orton. It might keep the veterans happy (Champ), but most will be retired before the Broncos are competitive. On another note, I wish they would have traded Champ to a contender when he still had value. Now they need to do it just out of good will.

In all fairness, did you see what the Lions D did to Matt Cassell and Jay Cutler? Tebow looked bad, but jury is still out.

The jury is only out for the idiots. Tebow doesn't have the FUNDAMENTAL skill set to play QB in the NFL, which BTW, is why he was beaten out by both Orton and Brady Quinn during preseason. He looked awful in practice, much like the game yesterday. Elway knows what he is doing with him. Play him and give him every chance to succeed while all the while, knowing he isn't going to get it done. It's a tough balance to keep the tail from wagging the dog, but at the same time, while allowing the taill to wag the dog a bit, you succeed in giving the idiot fans what they want and then they can see how awful he truly is at the position.

Tebow will make a fine NFL player. He's a gamer. It won't be at QB though

Cassel: 15/22
Cutler: 28/38 with an awful line
Tebow: 4/13, 6/17, 7/21 pre-garbage time

Not the best examples. Cutler played well against the Lions...

Cutler played extremely well, and so did Forte....and they scored 13. How does the QB and RB play incredibly well and you only put up 13? That Lions' D is tough. Tebow doesn't know how to take what the D is giving him like Cutler does. Either way you lose.

Or, he's just not accurate at all.

Maybe not, but he threw for like 66% in college, which is the most reliable college stat transitioning to the pro's. I don't think we've seen enough of him yet (I don't think he's seen enough yet). Gabbert is completing 46% (over 5 games, not just 2) of his passes and people aren't sentencing his career to death, yet.

2 years in the NFL vs. 1

4 years in college vs. 3

Tebow is a couple years older and has a head start.

Maybe he'll turn it around but it's a different situation. Newton and Dalton already seem to have it figured out. Looks like Ponder is ahead of Tebow too.

Tebow's mechanics are terrible and his accuracy is bad. It's a lot easier completing passes in college when you can throw a wide receiver screen and your receivers have the ability go the distance for a 70 yard touchdown.

The offense Tebow ran in college did not give him a head start. Urban Meyer did not give him a head start (ignored his mechanics, etc.), look how long it's taken Alex Smith to learn the ropes. He was trained to win in college, and that's it. That doesn't change whether or not Tebow can overcome that. Maybe he can't.

He can't. Have you seen his release? It takes him two seconds to throw the ball when he makes his decision.

Alex Smith was never as bad as Tebow is.

8/26 at one point also

He only started completing passes when Detroit called off the dogs and backed into a soft zone. Hell, even then he managed to throw the ball right to Chris Houston, who promptly returned it for a touchdown.

Tebow has some flaws, and he will probably always have those flaws to a degree. But he has some strengths as well. I'm not saying the odds of his success are good. But I do want to go ahead and say, John Fox doesn't have a creative bone in his body. Him and Tebow are not a good fit.

Still keep playing him, maybe he gets better. If he doesn't you get a higher draft pick. One of the reasons the Broncos are in a hole is because Shanahan and McDaniels couldn't draft, much less in the 10-20 range. Now with a rookie salary cap, I see no reason to play Orton and win a couple of more games.
