When I was there people seemed to get along fine. Talked to a few guys about this and I got a sense that they realized they were all South African, needed everyone for things to work and just a few trying to make a name for themselves (sounds familiar doesn't it?) were stirring up trouble.

The ANC has all but wrecked the power infrastructure. Long story, but the short is a lot of graft. They are exporting coal and suffering brown outs, daily shutdowns of the grid.
