Say what you want about Musk and Tesla (battery tech is FAR off) but Space-X has been an overwhelming success. Pretty much shows how private can do it better but still need NASA for some fundamental operations. It's well worth the expense by reviving an industry that died when the shuttle ended. Lots of jobs and high tech innovation. As we shift more and more to a service and tech economy this segment is worth the investment.
