Squirrel to the Portal. Receivers abandon Vols . What the ?

He was very ho hum receiver brought nothing but a cool nickname.
I think he’s a pretty good player. He played behind Hyatt his first year. He played w/ Milton his second year and this year he was hurt most of the time playing w/ a still growing Nico . I think he can be a good player somewhere.

so why couldnt he get separation from defenders again and which part of that was milton or nico's fault?

You’re talking about a coach that was ride or die with Joe Milton until he got hurt. Hooker was a product of bad luck. Then you refuse to let Nico take his lumps in a year nobody expected a whole lot from. Even without playing and sitting on the side and “learning” for a year and a half he hasn’t seemed to learn much. What will the excuses be next year. Receivers? O-line? Everything but the guy not producing.
You have a real dislike of our coach and QB

Well, we will have Matthews a 5 star that looked good with what little playing time he had. I think Boo is going to be wr next year, Is Thornton coming back? I don't know about the rest.
I think Staley is in the portal? Not sure
No on both. We don’t have anyone in the portal that we haven’t recruited over or already had on roster. We finally have some potential playmakers at WR in Matthews and Staley. Also, Jackson and Smith that just signed.

When are the ex college football players gonna lawyer up and sue because they didn’t have nil available back in the day. You know like………..reparations
It has already happened a couple of times. Not sure if the outcome has been decided but I remember seeing a couple of cases 🙄

There will be lots of good receivers in the portal when it opens back up
This. There are loads of great receivers who didn't enter the portal that would be willing to do so next round in order to play for Tennessee.

Plus, we still have Matthews, and we need to work hard to ensure he stays. He and Iamaleava together could be a program-changing tandem.

More than anything else UT needs a Sugar Daddy because the players' refrain now is "show me the money!" But you cannot pay the QB 20% of your nil money to sit on the bench his freshman year or underperform his second year. No wonder the team is in a confused state. Also Pavia is proof that your quarterback does not need to be as tall as a forward or throw on a rope.

We should have been paying for linemen and letting Gaston do what he can for the last 2 years. I know he could hand the ball off to Sampson, throw short passes and do it for less money. More and more the '22 season is looking like it was luck that our coach did not get the quarterback he wanted. We should have given sampson one of Nico's millions to come back next year.

Just being honest, I'm not convinced but I wish him well. To me he was middling receiver he will hook up somewhere but if its top notch team he may get lost in the numbers like Holden Staes who IMO was middling TE even at ND.

Who will pay him any better then ?
Maybe no one, but you have to declare to find out...at least officially. Most likely "interested parties" in these kids DM's all the time. Not saying White's coming back, but if the grass (cash) ain't greener he probably will. I don't hold it against any of them, they're all free agents every year and that door swings both ways now.

We need some guys who can run and catch the ball when it is accurately thrown their way. No attachments should be made to the name or number of the player necessarily, just to the on-field production (or lack thereof).
Wish all of the ones who left or do leave the absolute best. But we haven't lost anybody who's good enough to help us beat the handful of teams who are recruiting and winning @ the highest level. So, by definition, we ain't lost ****.... GoVols. Get better.

McCoy is very good, actually he covered pretty good even against Ohio State. They were just perfect throws, very little window on most of them.
Gibson had pretty good coverage on Smith's 1st touchdown. It was a perfect throw and a great catch by a receiver the announcers compared to Moss and Megatron all night. Smith and Williams are probably the best 2 WRs in the game right now.

Squirrel was a little disappointing in that he never seemed to do a whole lot after the catch in open space. It is telling that none of these receivers leaving have upgraded in team. Only Webb has signed and he went to Maryland. That is not a step up.
