Stafford and Moreno to announce

Since Stafford is more than likely going to Detroit, I dont think he will have the chance to be the "next Elway" with that team. I dont think Elway would look like Elway playing on the Lions

Detroit will be under new management and have all new coaches. The NFL is setup for teams that are bad to rebound, hell look at Miami and Baltimore. I say give Detroit some time as well as Stafford and he and they will be just fine.

We can agree that he is probably the next Elway, but you might check his stats in their losses over the past couple years.

He sucked against UF, he was awesome against GT. Don't remember how he did against Bama.

He was just OK against UT.

I would never bank my franchise's future on Matthew Stafford.

He does have a Jared Lorenzen air about him that I can't figure out. He should have put up much better numbers this year.

He was always good for 4 or 5 very poor decisions every game.

That being said, it is a good time to be a strong armed QB coming out of college. There are several franchises that could add Stafford and have an automatic upgrade.

He is what the NFL likes - big with a big arm. I don't see why anyone projected in the top 10 picks would come back. It's just too big of a risk (and I'm not only talking about injury either). Look what happened to Matt Leinart. I can't really say I'm happy to see him go since he didn't exactly kill UT while at UGA. Come to think of it, the only QB that has hurt us from Georgia in the last 10-15 years was Greene.

I'm hoping that Stafford / Moreno and Tebow / Harvin all go to the NFL. If so, the SEC east will be wide open next year for UT to take it baby!!!

Tebow comes back would be my guess...

They will trash him. UGA fans will give you complete unquestioning adoration if things start out well, but when they turn on you, it's bitter and it's forever. Cf. the career of Quincy Carter: when he was at UGA, I had more than one UGA fan tell me that he was going to be the best QB in the history of the SEC, and now you can't find anybody to say a good word about the guy. When they give up on you, they treat you like an ex-girlfriend.

kinda like you all did to crompton?:salute:

i think Stafford has potential to be pretty good in the NFL with some good qb coaching. he has the physical skills.

the decision making and game managing in the NFL can be taught.

i think Moreno may be more susceptible to being a bust than STafford. RB's this day and age are a dime a dozen.

HV....thanks for your post about GA's roster next year. Now if we can get all those speedy guys and Tebow at FL to leave early.........we may have a shot at bringing the rest of the East back down to our level!!!

I think Stafford's career will hinge on one thing. I think he is the prototype NFL qb with all the skills. He needs to not be thrown into the starter's roll year 1 with a bad team. It will kill his confidence and his chances of a good pro career. I think if Detroit takes him he needs to sit out at least a year and learn.

the league today is full of game managers. you don't have to have a prolific quarterback to effectively run an offense in the NFL anymore.

Stafford needs some more development, yes. but i don't see him being a complete bust.
