Stafford and Moreno to announce

To me, Leaf is the poster boy for no head for the NFL. To be fair, Shuler is on the poster as well.

I do not believe anyone with the physical tools can be taught to be an NFL QB.

Stafford has grown not one iota in his understanding of the game since he stepped on campus in Athens.

No reason to think he will change in the pros.

Sorry. I'm really down on the guy.

No Moreno or Stafford means no shot at an SECC or NC. Richt will be gone within 2 years and possibly at the end of next season. I wonder if this will effect Garner's decision?

They have 2 very highly rated qb's coming in. Also, the Moreno loss hurts but King and Samuel will more than pick up the slack. UGA will be just fine.

Stafford is a big dude with a big arm. He's gonna get big money. His lifelong hero is John Elway, and I can see him being every bit Elway in the NFL.

:eek:lol:

No. Big arm+bad decision making= Jamarcus Russell. Stafford should be better than Russell but he will be a lower tier starting QB or a backup for most of his career. He's going to go to a bad team who won't be able to get him enough time to use his big are and he will struggle. The only way I see him being at all successful is if St. Louis drafts him and that is only because of Steven Jackson.

i can agree that i always thought his college reputation had been overrrated.

but i am one that does think he has improved since his freshman year. how much....debatable, but there are certain things he has gotten much better at since his Fr. year.

his biggest problem may in fact be where he winds up as a pro.

Nothing is for sure yet. They will announce today at 3. I for one hope both come back because niether one of them have accomplished anything really. Stafford needs to come back (according to Peyton, Eli, and Troy Aikman) and Moreno still has two years of eligibility left.

If they dont come back I will cheer for both in the NFL and wish the best of luck, but we will not be as dangerous or explosive next year without them.

it's good to see that we have both ends of the spectrum.

stafford=kelly
stafford=elway

which one will it be????

who cares. good ridence to matty and crew from ahole town.

how bout them vols!

Isn't Andy Kelly the best QB to ever play in the Arena League? I doubt Stafford will match Kelly's pro success.

Carson Palmer? when healthy?
Drew Brees?
Palmer hasn't done it consistently enough for me.

Brees, possibly. this year he was definitely prolific, agreed.

but neither of these guys have done it as consistently or with more success than Brady and Manning.

another way to answer this.......do the saints or Bengals win anything BECAUSE of their qbs' play on the field, a la manning or brady?

That's not debatable, obviously not but they are more than game managers for their respective teams.

What about in 2006 when we won the division?

Detroit will be under new management and have all new coaches. The NFL is setup for teams that are bad to rebound, hell look at Miami and Baltimore. I say give Detroit some time as well as Stafford and he and they will be just fine.

Detroit hasn't won a playoff game in 50 years, the problems there are obviously deeper than Matt Millen (although, as I have said elsewhere, he has the distinction of making the worst franchise in the past 50 years worse than when he got there).

King and Samuel are not Moreno. Ask Fulmer how it is to break in a new QB in the SEC. After UGA's huge disappointment this year, their fanbase will be livid with finishing worse than 2nd in the SECE next year. If they hit some bumps in the road and go say....5-7 then Richt will be gone. All it will take is for a couple of linemen to get injured or very poor QB play and Richt will get blamed and be outed just like Fulmer. I'm not saying that it will definitely happen but Richt's career is hanging by a thread now. UGA does have some really good recent recruiting classes in their favor but those guys need to step up in a hurry next year if they want to play for Richt all through college.

Sorry but this post is hilarious. Richt is not even close to getting fired or even put on the hotseat. He has averaged 10 wins over the last 8 years has 2 sec championships and is 6-2 in bowl games. All of this in the most competitive league in college football. This post is complete trash.

Caleb King is no where close to Moreno. He didn't play much this year due to nonproduction.

Production wasn't the problem it was his blocking. He seems to be scared to block. In CMR offense the RB has to be able to pick up the blitz and he was uncapable of doing it consistently.

I don't think Georgia will have too hard of a time replacing Stafford or Moreno. I think a successful system and team "produced" their numbers and high profile, and it will do the same with their next starting running back and quarterback. They'll still be most likely the second best team in the East behind Florida next year.

That being said, I have never thought Tennessee was too far behind Georgia talent-wise. I think they can close ground next year and be in position to overtake them the year after if all goes well. Florida will be tougher to catch.

Then he isn't going to like the NFL much, huh?:birgits_giggle:

I agree with you. Noway he is on the hotseat. With that being said, this years team has to be one of the most disappointing teams in college football.

I guess this is why I am sitting at the desk I currently occupy and not an NFL scout, but I would not pick Stafford as a franchise QB. To me, a big arm is only a percentage of the intangibles I would look for in a franchise QB. Decision making would rank #1.

Just goes to show what UGA's standards are. Richt has had consistent top tier talent and has very little to show for it. He was unable to deliver a NC or SECC with the most hyped UGA team in his tenure there and will have less to work with next year. Are you willing to watch UF win the SECE again next year and wait for the Kiffins to get their players on the hill? Last year and this year were Richt's best window of opportunity to get it done. He didn't. Richt will be gone in 2 years.
