Stafford and Moreno to announce

Sorry but this post is hilarious. Richt is not even close to getting fired or even put on the hotseat. He has averaged 10 wins over the last 8 years has 2 sec championships and is 6-2 in bowl games. All of this in the most competitive league in college football. This post is complete trash.

As difficult as it is to agree with a Georgia fan, agree I must. Fulmer would have been in the catbird seat if he had Richt's record since 2001.

I agree with you. Noway he is on the hotseat. With that being said, this years team has to be one of the most disappointing teams in college football.

Disappoint to fans that where unrealistic. I for one had concerns about our team. It is hard to win in the SEC with a young OL much less one that is depleted with injuries. For me it is hard to view a 10 win season as disappointing especially when your team has 19 season ending injuries.

Keep saying that. UGA 2008 pre-season National Champs! :eek:lol:

I think Stafford will be Favre like player without all the success and numbers....so basically he will be a "gun slinger" that throws alot of INT's

Just goes to show what UGA's standards are. Richt has had consistent top tier talent and has very little to show for it. He was unable to deliver a NC or SECC with the most hyped UGA team in his tenure there and will have less to work with next year. Are you willing to watch UF win the SECE again next year and wait for the Kiffins to get their players on the hill? Last year and this year were Richt's best window of opportunity to get it done. He didn't. Richt will be gone in 2 years.

Any team riddled with injuries the way UGA was this year would have a hard time competing in any BCS conference. You need to just stop because you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

Most on this board predicted Georgia's season pretty accurately, as i recall. In a national hype sense they were disappointing... But around here I think we saw what we expected to see: a solid team but not a national elite team.

I guess this is why I am sitting at the desk I currently occupy and not an NFL scout, but I would not pick Stafford as a franchise QB. To me, a big arm is only a percentage of the intangibles I would look for in a franchise QB. Decision making would rank #1.

You wouldn't be an NFL scout for long. Rick Clausen made good decisions with the ball, but had a rag arm.

You can teach a player to read the field and learn to make better decisions. You can't teach a rag arm to turn into a rocket arm.

His seat has warmed but he is not on the hotseat. If UGA has more than 4 losses next year then his seat will be very hot. 2010 will be the make or break season for Richt at UGA but a UT-esque 2009 season could end things sooner. Anybody who thinks it can't happen just has to look at UT this year. Stellar defense+5 star HS QB+veteran OL+good stable of backs=5-7 with Fulmer getting fired.

Sure it was talented but only at the skill positions. Anyone that knows anything about football knows that games are won in the trenches and that is at any level. Our OL was young and inexperienced and our schedule was one of the toughest in the nation. Combine that with injuries and depth problems I would say that CMR did a hell of a coaching job this year to get us to 10 wins.

I am not talking bout the total win column...you did win 10 games and went to a decent bowl. When looking at compared to how the pre-season hype over Georgia never went anywhere. The never got that "huge" win. Who did they beat? Arizona State is about their best win. They lost to Alabama and Florida...they win those and they are playing tommorrow simple as that. They got blown away in those 2 games and had several nail biters on some other games...and not to mention the loss to GaTech. I would have never guessed that one

Even if Richt were fired, he would be unemployed for only as long as it took to find a pen to sign a new contract.

i agree he's not going anywhere, yet, but keeping Willie Martinez around isn't going to help Richt's case.

Not even warm I would even say it was frigid. I will be will to bet that you would be hard pressed to find one person that donates to the school or a booster that wants him gone. I know that my circle sure wants him here as long as he is willing to stay.

agree 100%

Fade, I thought you had retired from the forum after Georgia performed below expectations this year. J/K..... At least you all made it to a bowl game. We didn't seem to fare that well. :)

Anyways, Richt definitely don't have anything to worry about for the time being. However, I heard lots of fans were a little upset with him for not getting rid of Martinez. I have in laws from Georgia and they think Martinez needs to go and resents Richt a little for being too loyal. Have you heard any rumblings of this?

UT could have used that excuse a number of times in the last decade. UF had major contributors injured. Every team has injuries. When UGA goes 7-5 or 6-6 next year then Richt will have one of the hottest seats in the country. I have no problem calling it how I see it whether you agree or not.

Not saying he would not make it in the NFL, my point is I would not waste a high round draft pick on him.

Shoot if I were a UGA fan I would be ready to shoot ole Willie

Willie is a great coach. Our problem was with depth and no pass rush from the D ends. Last year we lead the league in sacks and this year we were dead last until the bowl game. Our scheme is predicated on getting pressure on the QB. We did no this year and our D suffered because of it.

They lost their best OL and prolly their best DL before the season started. If you don't think that contributed then you are not very bright. Just ask Utah how pedestrian that big bad Alabama offensive line looked after they lost their best guy....
