Star Wars 7?

He mad the new star treks relevant when most thought they would blow harder than Superman Returns. He did Fringe.

he has my support till he proves me wrong.

He completely screwed up the Star Trek franchise. I'm worried about the future of my beloved trilogy in his and Disney's hands.

Sorry I have to disagree, he made "Trek" relevant again. After "Nemesis" barely made more money than its budget and then the poor ratings of "Enterprise" leading it to be cancelled. The franchise really had no shot at getting a new series or film for the foreseeable future. So they decided it was time to reboot the franchise without trampling on the past 40+ years of shows and films by making it a new "timeline" with the time-travel aspect from the first film with Nimoy's Spock.

Agreed! He made Star Trek relevant for this generation while paying just enough homage to the classic series! Hell my wife, who has never been a Trek fan AT ALL even loved the JJ Abrams movies! They're great IMO!

That's my wife too.

Abrams admits he drew a lot of inspiration from the original SW trilogy for his Trek movies.

The Big news at Disney's D23 Expo was? That there was no news in regards to Star Wars 7! No cast news, no film title, zero, zilch!!

The only thing Disney chairman Alan Horn announced was that the film is being written by Michael Arndt, Abrams will direct and that John Williams will score stuff everyone already knew!!

To be so good with there Marvel stuff, it seems when it comes to the newly acquired Star Wars franchise. Disney has all of a sudden become Warner Bros. trying to do DC comic's related films.

Lack Of 'Star Wars' News At Disney's D23 Expo Disappoints Fans

Journalists attending Disney's D23 fan expo in Anaheim, Calif. on Saturday had hoped that some news about "Star Wars: Episode VII" would be revealed by the studio's brass, this despite words to the contrary from Disney CEO Bob Iger on Friday.

"We're just as excited as you are about 'Star Wars: Episode VII,'" Iger said during the Disney animation panel. "In fact, we're speechless. At least, we're going to be somewhat speechless at this expo because we aren't ready to share too many details just yet."

Some new stuff "Rumors" is leaking out, of course Disney is denying everything.

Take it with a grain of salt but rumor has it that the new Star Wars Episode VII film will be titled... Star Wars: Episode VII - A New Dawn and Luke Skywalker will apparently be the main focus in these films.

Exclusive do we know a potential title for star wars episode-7?

A New Dawn may sound like a very bland title, but it makes sense. The source also goes on to talk about some of the other things we might see in the movie,

“… yes the falcon will make a big appearance, 1.1 scale size cross section is being constructed over at Pinewood, along with a power plant set and the famous cantina.”

You can bet there are going to be denials all over the place for information like this leaking out, but denials don't mean it's not true. Abrams denies everything, and most of the time the rumors he denies end up being true.

Stuff mentioned in this article almost a year ago now appear to have some truth to it.
Luke Skywalker to be primary focus of new star wars trilogy

If true, I don't like it honestly. I really didn't want Abrams to take the easy way out and use the same retreads from the original trilogy. I wanted all new characters, new adventures, etc with the original cast mainly used in small supporting roles. The idea of using Luke as the main character concerns me because it's been FOREVER since Hamill has even been in front of a camera. Now he's being asked to carry a whole trilogy as the leading man? He's not the strongest actor to begin with. I cannot imagine him pulling this off for 3 films.

Don't even get me started on Carrie Fisher! Mentally I think she's went to the zoo more than once post Star Wars. I just wonder if she's up to the challenge for such a huge undertaking.

It is just a rumor but if true, I agree with you. It would be a death knell for the franchise...

Remember that Abrams is directing but Disney will be calling the shots. Its likely they would use a younger actor that looks a lot like Hamill and possibly do a lot of flashback stuff.

Seriously doubt Hamil would star. Prob recast with an older actor with beard to play an der Luke. Granted it was in reverse but think McGregor/Guinness as Obiwan.

Just because the story revolves around Luke does not mean he is main character.

Besides Ford, most of these main cast members from the original trilogy have been off the radar since (Hamill, Billy Dee, Fisher).

While its rumors as Disney hasn't confirmed any casting other than the great John Williams will return to score the film.

It does look like Hamill, Fisher & Ford will reprise there original rolls.

I thought Ford had a negative vibe towards SW. Surprised he's doing this, but I guess money talks.

Don't see him signing on at all.

I agree. Seems a little beneath his talents.

However, the Star Wars franchise has a history of bringing in some talented actors. The prequels were actually quite loaded (the biggest exception being the lead role).
