Star Wars 7?

I like Abrams for the most part. I was a fan of Lost and thought he did a good job on the Star Trek reboot as well.

That being said, if he introduces some sort of plot element involving time travel or strays away from the traditional storytelling too much in the next trilogy then I may as well be out. I don't mind it in Star Trek, but I do in Star Wars. I mention this only because this seems to be a common theme with Abrams and his filmography.

Agreed. I hate that crap. I just makes the story unresolvable in my opinion.

I don't think it would be possible to make for anyone to make a worse Star Wars movie than what Lucas did with Episode I. That tainted the whole series for me.

It made sense in Star Trek to reboot yet still continue the continuity of the original in a round about way. Also, time travel is a reoccurring theme in Star Trek anyway.

Lost is Lost.

Some of his other stuff I've not watched so you all will have to tell me if time travel played a part in Alias, Cloverfeild, Super Eight, MI3, or Felicity.

(ok I'm kidding about the last one)

WTF?!?

All I remembered about the show was one season she cut her hair and all the girls I knew at the time were freaking out over it. I just assumed it was some teen angst drama show line Dawson's Creek or something. Never realized it got all Sci-Fi.

What's funny is my wife actually has some Felicity DVDs around here somewhere. Not sure if it's the complete set or just one season. I'll have to ask her about this.

Well there have been rumors that the oft-postponed Star Wars TV series would include time travel.

And then you have the rumors about Darth Vader being in Episode VII for no apparent reason.

Finally, you have to consider the fact that there should be no Sith in Episode VII. How are they gonna throw all those fancy lightsaber fights in, and sell those toys?

Throw in Abrams, and yeah, you should prolly expect time travel in it.

From what Ive read Abrams is only directing it. Brad Bird is writing it and he usually crafts a nice tight story.

Who knows though. The whole dynamic changes with Abrams involved.

You prolly mean Michael Arndt writing it, but yeah. Lawrence Kasdan (who co-wrote Empire with Lucas) is also consultant.

Reading this article:

Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy on 'Star Wars,' 'Lincoln' and Secret J.J. Abrams Meetings (Exclusive) - The Hollywood Reporter

I think Star Wars is in good hands with Kennedy. Still not completely sold on Abrams, and part of me wishes they had got Kathryn Bigelow to direct, but as long as Abrams doesn't have too much power, and Arndt/Kasdan/Lucas have the say in the story, I think it will be ok.

Hopefully John Williams will still be doing the score.

Could have sworn I read something about Brad Bird being involved.

If they do this well and create a "true" Star Wars galaxy than I can understand spin offs.

I predict Starkiller is about to get his own movie.

I'd always thought a Han Solo...er...solo project made sense. The story of how Chewie and Han met it basically a movie unto itself. The character has back story written all over him.

IG88 has a very cool back story.

Jaba does.

Starkiller.

Han.

Even how the emperor became a sith.

darth maul and his brother.

Not a huge fan of Starkiller. I was pretty excited about the potential with the Force Unleashed games, but neither were anything spectacular, and the second one was honestly pretty below average.

That said, I'd still be interested to see what direction they would go with a plot line dealing with that.

I recently watched the Battlestar Gallactica series on Netflix. The guy who was Starkiller in Force Unleashed had a role in 11 the episodes in seasons 1 and 2.

Must have been minor, I don't really remember him. Although it's been a few years since I've watched BSG.

Interesting. Saw this fan made one earlier. I wouldn't mind seeing Luke in a similar "Obi-Wan" type role if they, in fact, decided to go that direction.

There was a comic series in the early 90's just before the Star Wars resurgence about Like dabbling in the Dark Side. That would be interesting. I doubt they adapt any previously released material though.
