Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

I think 8 definitely has the chance to be, but I am very leery of 9 since Jurassic World director is doing it.

Still gonna stick to my guns that Rogue One is going to be the best of this whole new litter. The cast is f'in phenomenal and it's the first time since '83 that we'll get to see OG Vader in a movie.

Edit: from the people that brought you Finn Calrissian. I give you!

Why not breed Luke and Leia? It would create a super jedi. :)

I did not like the black dude, I thought he was completely out of place. the battle with that black dude and the jedi should have lasted about 15 sec. the jedi could have picked him and thrown him a couple of times against a tree.

other than that I thought they did a really good job. I saw it in 3d, I wasn't too impressed but it could have been the theater, I didn't see it in imax.

Shocker. Lol

He explained it, kinda:

Star Wars The Force Awakens: J.J. Abrams explains R2-D2's closing scene | EW.com

I get why they did it. But its a pretty weak explanation, from a logic standpoint. It's just too coincidental.

They did not convey it well that BB-8 asked R2 a question and it took that long to register. Maybe a simple wrrr or light blinking as they panned away was needed. As it was it just seems like he conveniently kicked on just when they needed him to.

Now I found this interesting...

I admit that scene happened so quick it was a lot to absorb at one time. FTR I do think a vision fit better than a flashback in the context of Star Wars.

Did you know you just reposted the same link you quoted?

When I watched it for the second time today, I tried to catch clues that I may have missed in the first showing. I'm certain that Luke is Rey's father, and I'm cool with that. There are many directions they could go with Snoke/Kylo/Rey/Luke. In Rey's flashback to her childhood, when we get the glimpse of Luke and R2, Luke puts his hand on R2 and R2's lights go out. I think that's when he put R2 to "sleep" and R2 only woke up once he sensed Luke's presence via Rey. When Kylo was trying to get into Rey's head, he told her about "the island" and "the ocean" and the "father figure she never had" and that's the setting where she met Luke, and I also think it's telling that R2 went with her, instead of BB-8. IMO, that explanation from Abrams in the EW column linked earlier was just a flimsy excuse to try and divert attention from the story line to come. Also, the force was stronger with Luke than Leia, so it would make sense to me that the force would be stronger with Rey than Kylo.

I also think it's possible than Finn is a Jedi descendant, but that is more up in the air.

Question

When they are at the cantina Maz makes a comment directed at Finn, saying

"When you've lived this long you tend to find the same eyes in different people."

-Most people took that to mean that Maz was just commenting on Finn wanting to run from the First Order, and being fearful of them. How she has seen that type of fear before...

When I first heard her say that, and her kind of reaching across the table to see his eyes it made me think that they were possibly alluding to Finn's parents, who he doesn't know, being some black persons son...Lando or Mace Windu are the only blacks I recall and I seriously doubt him to be Mace Windu's kid.

also...

I hope to god that Rey decides she is most comfortable with the staff style combat and chooses to wield a double-bladed lightsaber!

first main character JEDI with a double-bladed lightsaber. So badass.

I wanted to see a Jedi wield a blaster and a lightsaber at the same time. I think it would open up a lot of possibilities for some cool fight scenes.

Star Wars related question: I have a 5 year old and an 8 year old. The older child loves Star Wars. The younger child does as well but he can't sit still for a full length movie that's not animated. He enjoys 30 minute cartoons. I've bought GI JOE and Duck Tales, etc and both kids eat them up.

So my question is, what DVD should I get for my 5 year old for Christmas? Rebels? Clone Wars? Something else?

My son is 6 now, he likes both the Clone wars and rebels. I started him watching the Clone wars series on netfix when he was late 4 almost 5, and he been watching Rebels since it started. I don't think you could go wrong with either one at that age.
