Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

Question

I seriously doubt him to be Mace Windu's kid.

He couldn't be Mace's kid, maybe a grand son or great nephew. Mace was killed roughly 19-20 years before episode 4, episode 7 is set about 35 years after that. He'd have to be 50+. I think though there is a fair chance they are related somehow though.

Loved the movie! Upset we all have to wait another 17 ish months for the next one.

Yeah but just imagine next December.

We have a new Star Wars movie to watch.
We'll be just a few months away from Episode VIII.
Tennessee will be in the CFB Playoffs.

Should be amazing.

I'll be sorely disappointed if we don't at least win the east. If not for a 4th and 14 breakdown, we would've been in Atlanta this season.

Regardlsss, next December will be a great time for us Star Wars fans!

Star Wars related question: I have a 5 year old and an 8 year old. The older child loves Star Wars. The younger child does as well but he can't sit still for a full length movie that's not animated. He enjoys 30 minute cartoons. I've bought GI JOE and Duck Tales, etc and both kids eat them up.

So my question is, what DVD should I get for my 5 year old for Christmas? Rebels? Clone Wars? Something else?

I was both with my 4.5 and 3 year old. They really like the characters of Clone Wars more, especially since R2 and C3PO are in it regularly. Clone Wars is on Netflix though.

Rebels is good too. You tell it's a little more influenced by Disney, brighter colors and story subjects. Violence is slightly toned down. Rebels is not on Netflix and only has one season available on DVD right now. I would probably go with it.

I would start with Clone Wars. There are several characters that carry over. Rebels is more enjoyable if you saw the previous series. That show is the only good thing to come out of the prequels.

I wanted to see a Jedi wield a blaster and a lightsaber at the same time. I think it would open up a lot of possibilities for some cool fight scenes.

On Rebels the young Jedi builds a light saber that also doubles as a blaster.

I actually started with Rebels then went back after Asokah appeared.

One thing about Clone Wars to be aware of is the first 2.5 seasons are out of order. And I mean episodes from S3 should be in S1 It's not a huge deal but can be a little jarring when a character who was killed in Season 1 appears late in season 2. And the Clone Wars movie was actually supposed to be a 3 episode arc in the middle of season 1 but Lucas liked it and decided to release as a theatrical feature before the show launched.

I didn't look it up until I was coincidentally at the point where it straightens out in Season 3. Didnt ruin the show for me but I wish I had known before hand.

If you are going the DVD route it will be hard to watch them in the correct order if it's a concern. But on Netflix you can jump around very easily between seasons.

Aren't there 2 different Clone Wars cartoons? One that was more shorts that came out between Episodes 2 and 3 and then the series that came out a few years after Episode 3?

Yeah there was one that is traditional animation by the guy that did Samurai Jack Cartoon Network. I think it had 2 seasons. Not sure how much of it is still considered canon. Although it did have the first appearance of a handful of characters like Grievous and Assaj Ventress.

The CG animated one is considered canon though.

I only saw a few parts of it, but I had heard Grievous was actually pretty awesome in it, which made people more disappointed in how he turned out in Episode 3. I also heard there was a scene where Mace Windu force crushes his chest which explains why he is so weezy in Episode 3.

The original cartoon appears to be the first 6 month to a year of the the 3 year conflict. Anakin is still a padawan with his rat tail braid. The whole series is like 2.5 hours. You can find it on YouTube. Search Clone Wars 2003.

By the CG series Anakin has graduated to Jedi Knight and gets a padawan assigned to him, Asokah Tano, who seems Iike she will be annoying at first but grows on you, and Anakin, quickly. He's also the General of the 501st clone battalion. You get to know a some of the clones as individuals pretty well. In fact some of my favorite episodes have focused on the clones.

The show does a good job of showing Anakin as a hero but also plants those seeds for his path to becoming Vader. Better than the Prequels IMO.

Is there an explanation on how Luke's (and Anakin's) original lightsaber was found? I mean the last we saw it, it was falling down the giant abyss of Cloud City after his hand got chopped off.

scavengers bro..scavengers.

That's actually probably the answer, as I'm assuming things dropped down get collected, like Luke went down a garbage shaft or something similar. I can see it being collected, dumped, and some scavenger finding it and it ending up getting traded/stolen all over the place.

One guy told me Vader had it retrieved but I don't know if that's a canonical answer or not.

There's no specific answer for it, but this FAQ clears up a few things:

https://www.yahoo.com/movies/star-wars-the-force-awakens-ultimate-faq-164511371.html

As far as how it got to Maz:

In the script, Rey's vision shows the lightsaber crash landing on a planet. It passes hands a few times, and finally comes into possession of a clan. The Knights of Ren fight the clan, kill them, and take the lightsaber. Maz steals the lightsaber from the Knights of Ren.

However, I think that may have been contradicted in the movie by a line, so maybe they changed their minds.

I liked the video at the end of the link that showed Ford and Fisher reminiscing about the Holiday Special. Good stuff.

What line?

Why are people thinking Finn is a Jedi?

because people want to give a reason for why Finn is any good at the things he was doing, and because Maz saw into his eyes and felt it was something she'd seen before, hinting that it's from a character we've already met. There are only 2 main black people: Lando and Mace. So half of the possibility is Jedi.
