Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

Why is half of the possibility is Jedi?

Because if you subscribe to the theory that the comment about his eyes means that he must be the descendent of someone she (we) already know, 50% of the black characters we already know was Jedi (Mace).

The other half would mean this guy:

Yeah there was one that is traditional animation by the guy that did Samurai Jack Cartoon Network. I think it had 2 seasons. Not sure how much of it is still considered canon. Although it did have the first appearance of a handful of characters like Grievous and Assaj Ventress.

The CG animated one is considered canon though.

The animated clone wars micro series was awesome! I have both seasons on DVD. They're not considered canon but they actually fit well with the cgi series if you watch them in the correct order. Basically the sequence goes like this...

Clone Wars Animated Series Season 1
Clone Wars Animated Series Season 2: Episodes 21 & 22
The Clone Wars Movie
The Clone Wars Seasons 1-6
Clone Wars Animated Series: Episodes 23-25.

What makes the animated series so great is that it includes so many little things that the cgi series omitted. It introduces Asajj Ventress, it shows the ceremony where Anakin loses his Palawan braid and becomes a full fledged Jedi knight. It shows C3PO finally getting his gold coverings. Padme's reaction to Anakin getting his facial scar.

The only issue I have with the animated series is that it portrays the Jedi abilities too over the top. However I still think it's a great series.

I'll agree with that. The jumping is a bit absurd sometimes and there was one episode where Anakin and Asokah jump off a damn and use the force to break their fall for a soft landing. I was like "whoah... if that works then falling is never an issue".

The story lines of the show make up for it though. Sure there Atlee a few weak episodes here and there but that's par for the course of any show.

The Force has always seemed to be a bit of a plot convenience thing, moreso in the prequels but I'm sure I could think of some instances in the original trilogy.

Like in TPM, it shows Qui Gon and Obi Wan sprinting off at incredible speed getting away from the droids early in the movie, but late in the movie when Obi Wan was trying to get to Qui Gon and Darth Maul fighting he got stopped by the shield. I would think that fast burst would have come in handy right then.

The thing about the OGs is we only saw an untrained Luke and an aged Obiwan and Yoda.

Even in RotJ Luke wasn't at the level of the Jedi order of the prequels.

because people want to give a reason for why Finn is any good at the things he was doing, and because Maz saw into his eyes and felt it was something she'd seen before, hinting that it's from a character we've already met. There are only 2 main black people: Lando and Mace. So half of the possibility is Jedi.

I was thinking his eyes reminded her of Han. In the first didn't Han think of himself first before eventually comin back to help?

Finally went to see SWFA on Tuesday @ 4:40 and it was still sold out.

Overall, loved it. I thought Kylo Ren was a brilliant Villian and superbly cast. Rey as well. I actually wished they had toned down the action and taken more time to develop the characters and story, particularly Finn, whose desertion just didnt seem believable. The death planet just seemed contrived and lazy. A rescue mission for Rey would have been enough.

Something I've noticed that isn't getting much traction..
Do folks not realize the First Order destroyed the Republic for "supporting" the resistance? That seems to be something most folks are glossing over. General Hux gave a speech that would make Hitler blush, then they destroyed the Republic Senate and their entire space fleet. "bring an end to the Senate and their Fleet"..."last day of the Republic"..Resurgence of the Empire incoming..The movie kind of just glossed over the destruction of the Republic but I am sure it will become apparent in the next flick

Side note..General Hux's speech is creepily awesome.

There isn't a 50% chance he's Jedi.

I said IF you subscribe to the theory that the comment about his eyes was foreshadowing about his character/lineage then there are only 2 quasi major black characters we've been introduced to that could be part of his story. Of those 2, 1 of them (half) was a Jedi.

So then you're suggesting that if if a Jedi has a child he's 100% going to be so strong in the force he will likely become a Jedi.

Not necessarily but Jedi lineage would obviously raise the level of possibility. We've seen the father son force dynamic before.

We saw it in this movie... Albeit mother:son.

It's kind of a theme in Star Wars. Not really sure what mdrew27 is arguing about.

That doesn't seem to hold true in Princess Leia's case. She doesn't seem very force sensitive even though she's anikan's daughter.

She is but chose not to train in the ways of the force. She definitely felt Han's passing.
