Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

Think there could be a hint of jealousy that The Force Awakens is doing better than he thought it would under Disney?

George Lucas Says He Sold ‘Star Wars’ to ‘White Slavers’

While Disney has to be pleased with the way its $4 billion acquisition of Lucasfilm is turning out, thanks to the galactic success of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the man who created the “Star Wars” universe doesn’t feel the same way.

In an interview with Charlie Rose, George Lucas spoke about everything from his and Disney’s branching vision to the deal itself. Lucas, who has always been protective of his series and even refers to them as his “kids,” hasn’t been looking back well on the deal with Disney (via Collider).

“I sold them to the white slavers that takes these things, and…,” Lucas said before laughing and deciding it better not to finish. (See the interview below. Lucas mentions the “white slavers” around the 50-minute mark)

The father of “Star Wars” also opened up about why he and Disney were split on their decisions for the franchise’s future.

“They looked at the stories, and they said, ‘We want to make something for the fans,’” Lucas said. “They decided they didn’t want to use those stories, they decided they were going to do their own thing. … They weren’t that keen to have me involved anyway — but if I get in there, I’m just going to cause trouble, because they’re not going to do what I want them to do. And I don’t have the control to do that anymore, and all I would do is muck everything up,” he said. “And so I said, ‘OK, I will go my way, and I’ll let them go their way.’”

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has been a massive success in the two weeks it has been out, becoming the ninth-highest box office performer ever with $1.23 billion in global box office receipts.

Just saw it yesterday. I think it was better than the prequels. I'd put it 3rd or 4th in the Franchise honestly. I was surprised at how legitimately funny it was.

George Lucas Says He Sold ‘Star Wars’ to ‘White Slavers’

Lucas sounds like a total prick those quotes. Waaa, they didn't want to do things my way. 'Waaa they didn't want to give me any real say over what happens. Waaaa they actually wanted to make good movies that the fans will like'. If he had released some of his power and stubbornness maybe the prequels could've been what they were capable of being.

Lucas basically became the very thing his movies preached against. As Marcia Lucas pointed out, once he started building Skywalker Ranch, he became a machine. He became Darth Vader. It's funny cause he even deals in absolutes now. "You're either a dictator or you're not," he says.

That being said, just like the prequels would've turned out better, TFA probably would've been better if he had just came up with the story, but somebody else would write the screenplay and direct, and there would be people to step in and tell him when something was a bad idea. This was the formula that worked well with his early movies, the formula that is a healthy relationship for most good movies, yet now he wants to be a dictator.

Well George, you got do things your way in the prequels and even diehard SW fans don't care for them. And as it's constantly pointed out, you didn't direct what is considered the best one (TESB).

So, I'm calling sour grapes.

Honestly, in hindsight I think Natalie Portman was not a good casting choice for that role. Now, whether it's attributed to her as an actress or to the script I don't know, however I just never did buy that she was the mother of the spunky, tough, and resourceful Leia Organa. To me their characters/personalities are way too different for them to be related in any way. I never viewed her as a tough lady. I always viewed her as a lady of privilege who didn't want to chip her nails. She could be clever at times but mostly she came across as cold and stoic.

She was an excellent child actor in Leon The Professional and eventually an Oscar winner, so I've always felt like it was the character and the dialogue more than the actress.

I have no idea why he chose to kill her of a broken heart or whatever instead of just, you know, complications from child birth.

It has always bothered me that when Leia was asked, in RotJ, if she remembers her real mother and she said "Just a little. She died when I was very young." Yeah, you were 2 minutes old. Just more retcon by Lucas, I believe.

I've wondered about this as well. I thought of it when it was pointed out that there are missing commas it the opening crawl of TFA.

Here's a link. It might've been covered here already.

I just assumed Leia was thinking of her adopted mother.

Honestly, I've never liked Leia being Luke's brother. Even as a child sitting in the theatre when the moment was revealed it didn't sit well with me. It's always felt very tacked on.

Her adopted parents died with Alderaan.

Yeah, if definitely felt tacked on!

Well that's a huge spoiler. Leia is Luke's brother? Did Han know?

So, theories on Rey's parentage seem to lean toward her being Luke's daughter, or somehow related to Obi Wan. I'm wondering what the supposed age of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is, and how old is Rey supposed to be? Could we possibly be looking at a father/daughter twist? Could she be the grandchild of Han and Leia?

Over all, I liked TFA, but it did still leave me longing for the now erased expanded universe of the books. Still, I understand why they felt they needed to go in a different direction. Looking forward to seeing what Ep. 8 brings.

Saw it yesterday. Very solid. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the 3 new hero characters. 8/10. Also, look up Angry Joe on YouTube and watch his top ten theories video. A lot of interesting possibilities.

To me I think there's hints dropped in the movie Rey is Luke's daughter. I'm going with that.

All they had to do was have the very end where Han is yelling to Kylo Ren across the bridge, instead of saying "Ben!" have him scream out "Jacen!" And so many fan boys would have creamed themselves. Even if it was never mentioned again, that little nod would have been awesome.

She'd have to be Obi Wan's granddaughter. She's in her early 20s, and by this time in the movie timeline, Obi Wan has been dead about 40 years.

Kylo Ren is supposed to be around 30. I seriously doubt they'd make Rey a grandchild of Han/Leia.

I'm still going with the obvious that Rey is Luke's daughter, but the idea that she could be Obi-Wan's granddaughter is intriguing to me and in a way I like it better. It's not a stretch that after ROTS and Obi Wan went into hiding as Ben that he met someone and settled down a bit. The Jedi Order was dead so he probably didn't feel like he had to adhere to the "no commitments" stuff anymore. Also the fact that you hear Obi Wan talk during her "vision" is possibly a clue too.
