Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

So can someone who is a bigger dork than me explain why she has to be jedi offspring? It's not genetic is it? Seems too coincidental that she would be tied to 1 or maybe 2 characters we already know.

I think it can be but it's not 100% genetic always.

Star Wars is a family affair. It's all about the Skywalkers. The whole way that Anakin/Luke's lightsaber 'called' out to her. They're pointing to Rey bring Luke's daughter.

In the books (that aren't considered canon but they've clearly borrowed ideas from) Han and Leia had a set of twins, Jacen and Jania. Both were trained as Jedi. Jacen turned to the dark side and was eventually killed by his sister. Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) is clearly Jacen Solo. Rey will likely be either his sister or cousin.

Gotcha. There was something in Star Wars rebels where Obi Wan said he almost left the Jedi over someone he met. Maybe it was her but I have no idea.

It was in Clone Wars. The Mandolorian Duchess Satine.

But....
she dies in the show

Just got back from watching it. Over all really liked it. Good character building and a damn hell of a cliff hanger.

One question. Snoke mention "bring him to me to complete his training". I'm assuming he's talking about Kylo. But I never saw him making it off of death star 2.0. Or did I miss that?

She doesn't have to be of the Skywalker lineage. But the way the whole saga tends to wrap things into each other, it tends to make sense. But then again, with the way the saga has twisted in the past, the writers could be tossing those hints out there to lead the fans astray.

Now the other possible explanation was the Chosen One prophecy was incorrect in saying Anakin Skywalker was the one to bring balance back to the Force. Being that Luke can communicate with the Force Ghosts of Yoda, his father and Obi Wan (or at least that's implied from previous episodes) they might have had some "insider" information they gave to Luke to stay in hiding since the Chosen One would reveal him/herself and he would need to train them. And either of the four could have planted the Force Vision Rey received. And in turn led her to Skywalker to be trained by the last Jedi in order to fulfill the Prophecy. Which will be revealed in Episode VIII or IX.

That's my nerdy hypothesis.

That's what I used to think but there are scenes in TPM that can't be explained without Jar Jar using force abilities. Everything he did was animated and as such was done on purpose. There's a scene where Qui Gon, Obi and Jar Jar drop down off a ledge. Qui Gon and Obi drop straight down but Jar Jar appears on the opposite side of the screen from where he should've been and you can even watch the droids track his force jump across the screen. Again the droids are completely animated as well so this was all planned. If you have the time you should really look into it.

I watched the jar jar theory video and took it for what it was; a joke

Some people don't like a Mary Sue. It's also considered to be too coincidental, altho you could chalk it up to the "will of the Force".

This may have already been mentioned, but in the Visual Dictionary, it says Captain Phasma's armor was made from plates from Palpatine's Naboo yacht. I thought that was pretty cool. Hopefully she wasn't actually crushed in garbage compactor.

Then give your explaination for Jar Jar doing things that only Jedi have ever been shown to do. And if it's just a Gungan thing then why don't any of the other Gungans exhibit similar abilities.

Have you stopped to reason out some of these questions before you asked them?

For example.... the "really high jumps" that "prove" Jar Jar is secretly a Sith. He literally does it right in front of the Jedi, a few times actually. So there goes that whole theory.

So, I was in Barnes and Noble earlier checking out The Force Awakens Visual Encyclopedia (Nerd Alert) and I was reading the page describing the new planents. According to that book, which is obviously canon, Hosnian Prime was one of multiple locations of a new "rotating location Senate meeting" instituted by Mon Mothma to keep the new government from being too centralized. This means that it's very likely that the entire Senate was not destroyed by Starkiller Base on Hosnian Prime and the fleet that was destroyed was more than likely a planetery defense force as opposed to the entire New Republic starfleet.

Whew! That was close! :)

People thinking Jar Jar is a sith, let a lone a a force user, is like people thinking 9/11 was an inside job. No one should have to counter such a dumb theory. Some idiot tried to convince me of this in the grocery store and I wanted to punch him.

If he was the dark lord of the Sith he could've easily put on a 'mind trick' to throw the Jedi off. Palpatine was literally right under their nose and they weren't aware of him. And it's not just the "really high jumps". It's a combination of many things that on their own would mean nothing. Why would the Jedi take a bumbling idiot, who was exiled from his own people supposedly for being a huge klutz, on their off world trek across Tatooine. That's a huge risk that two trained Jedi wouldn't have taken. Add to it a character that literally shares the same name from a book that helped to inspire Lucas was a bumbling idiot who was exiled for not having any magic but further in the book you find out that he does in fact have magic it just acts in an accidental sort of way no one had ever seen before.

Oh and also Palpatine and Jar Jar were also from the same planet, which is the Star Wars equivalent to being next door neighbors. Which doesn't really add much but they, at the very least, likely knew each other.

Palpatine didn't use his force powers in front of the jedi until he was discovered. To suggest a "mind trick" was used on Obi Wan is to suggest he was weak-minded. I don't buy that.
