Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

Every time I see Star Wars Vll I cry a little on the inside. Leave it to Disney to ruin my childhood. As if the penis in the little mermaid wasn't enough.

You mean George Lucas didnt already ruin it for you? I do may damnedest to pretend those prequels didnt happen.

I think the quality of these will be much better. If anything I think Disney is righting the ship as far as episodes go.

I am skeptical of over saturation with a new spin off every year.

For me, the entire Star Wars saga begins with The Clone Wars animated series and goes from there. I don't acknowledge episodes 1 and 2. Revenge Of The Sith I can tolerate.

Star Wars Episode 7 -- Holy Crap, It's the Millennium Falcon ... Right?!?

Star Wars Episode 7 -- Holy Crap, It's the Millennium Falcon ... Right?!?

Brace yourselves Nerf Herders ... TMZ obtained a photo of what looks like the beginning stages of Han Solo's famous spaceship the Millennium Falcon!!!

Sources close to the Rebel Alliance tell us the pics were taken inside an uber-secret location in the UK -- where different set pieces, props and creatures are being constructed.

At first glance, it looked like run-of-the-mill set pieces ... until one of our top "Star Wars" nerds in the office spotted the legendary Millennium Falcon in mid-construction -- at least that's how it looks.

TMZ previously used its Jedi mind tricks to reveal the first "EP:VII" set pics -- and in the new photos, you can see the hog-like creature featured in our gallery before it was complete.

It also looks like they're building an X-wing.

Enjoy these pictures, you will -- but have to ask, we still do ...

Another director has signed on for a stand alone film!

BREAKING: Josh Trank to Direct Stand-Alone Star Wars Film

BREAKING: Josh Trank to Direct Stand-Alone Star Wars Film

In addition to the episodes of a new "Star Wars" trilogy, Lucasfilm and Disney continue development of multiple stand-alone movies that will offer new stories beyond the core Saga. The newest director to come on board is Josh Trank (Chronicle, The Fantastic Four (2015)).

"We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."

Trank states, "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."

Trank previously directed Chronicle and is currently at work on The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox.

Last month, it was announced that Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards will direct the first "Star Wars" stand-alone movie hitting theaters on December 16, 2016.

‘Star Wars’ Mishap Sends Harrison Ford Limping To Hospital

‘Star Wars’ Mishap Sends Harrison Ford Limping To Hospital

Han Solo doesn’t move like he did 35 years ago. Harrison Ford suffered an injury to his ankle, filming the JJ Abrams-directed Star Wars film. Disney released this statement: “Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.” Here’s wishing him well, since he’s booked for three Star Wars film, Alcon is planning to bring him back to star in another Blade Runner, and Disney plots another Indiana Jones. Ford’s 71 now, so presumably he’ll be able to relax around the time he’s 85. Ford’s ankle is repped by UTA.

Don't know how I missed this BIG news!!!

‘Star Wars’ Bombshell! Rian Johnson To Write, Direct Next Two Films

‘Star Wars’ Bombshell! Rian Johnson To Write, Direct Next Two Films

Rarely have I seen the revival of a film franchise stir so much fervor as Star Wars, among hot young filmmakers who grew up loving George Lucas’ original film trilogy. In a bombshell move, I’m told that Lucasfilm is making a deal with Looper writer-director Rian Johnson to write and direct Star Wars Episodes VIII and IX. Essentially, that means that the intention is for Johnson to take the baton from JJ Abrams, who has gotten the space franchise off the ground and is right now helming Episode VII. I don’t know too much more at this point, but it is in keeping with Disney and Lucasfilm’s strategy of entrusting the venerable franchise to the best and brightest writers and directors, including the spinoff films that are being directed by Chronicle‘s Josh Trank and Godzilla‘s Gareth Edwards.

Johnson will take over the core film franchise, and he’ll get started quickly and this will be his preoccupation for quite awhile. Technically, he’ll write that second treatment but the intention on both sides is that he direct the two installments. Joining him as producer will be Ram Bergman. Johnson made his directing debut on the respected indie Brick, and then jumped to mainstream science fiction by writing and directing Looper, an inventive time travel thriller that starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis. Bergman produced both of those films. It would be hard to imagine Johnson taking on a higher profile challenge than two consecutive Star Wars films. I’ll tell you more when I know it. Johnson is repped by CAA and attorney Stephen Clark.

I think Ford's injury is a broken leg, sustained when the loading ramp of the Falcon slammed down on it. Apparently someone did a poor job with props.

Why is it the more I hear about the direction this is heading, the less I feel the franchise is going to be as good as the originals?

You have to go into these films as not being better than the originals but being better than the prequels. :good!:
