Star Wars: Episode VIII (December 15, 2017)

Is this some kind of weird unified troll job?

Rotten tomatoes, metascore, IGN, all saying this movie is stellar.

You guys in here are pretty much the only ones I’m seeing who didn’t love it.

Go ahead, waste your time and money. It’s just not a good movie. Easily the worst Star Wars ever.

Once you see it I think you'll understand our criticisms. I can't believe Disney is allowing Rian to direct the next trilogy.

I do agree, they did kill off MY Star Wars. I honestly don't know where this will go, and I feel somewhat less vested in where it IS going after this movie.
Now, taking away my years of Star Wars fandom, and seeing it through an 11 yr old and 6 yr old's eyes, I thought the movie was great. They loved it. You get Finn, Rey, Kylo and Poe, each doing their own thing. The movie tells its own story, and has little throwbacks to the old movies, but it goes off it its own direction. It is just that, that direction is not the way I had it in my head it should go. Does it have a MacGuffin, and things that don't make sense to me? Yes. My kids didn't really care nor think that deeply about it. Also, they have never seen Battlestar Galactica, which this felt like at times.

I think Kylo says it best. Let the past die. Kill it.

I will probably see this in the theater, but I know I will be disappointed. I was so excited for Kylo Ren's character in the first one, especially after his first appearance at the start of that film. He looked like a BA, but then the movie kept going and he seemed more and more inept. Still struggling with how Rey and Finn were able to fight him off. So I am assuming he will be the same in this one. Supposedly really powerful, has killed many jedi, but somehow always loses to the other main characters.

I like Kylo more after this movie.

The more i think about the movie, the more holes / issues that I think of and see in it.

I didn't like Rogue One and got blasted on here for it. Is it similar storytelling?

I really liked E7...

I liked RO but this one has so many holes in it, and campy writing its not watchable. All that you are waiting to find out, all that build up about Luke, Rey, Snope...Let me say, don’t get your hopes up

The day has already started great; I thought I bought 11:00 AM tickets and I actually got noon tickets. So....walking around the mall.

Complaining about plot holes in a Star Wars movie LOLOLOL.

It doesn’t take much thought to poke holes in the original ‘Holy’ Trilogy starting with the weakness of the Death Star. It only took 40 years to retcon a reason for that.

Anyway I will reserve getting into the minutiae of Last Jedi until Saturday evening.

You will see. They handled so many character lines so poorly. The whole movie is just one WTF moment after another. It’s stupid bad.

I look forward to both of your opinions on the movie. I usually have a similar mindset with you two.

Hoping to see the movie early next week.
