Not surprised! I'm still looking for a young actress who looks like Carrie Fisher to be playing Princess Leia if nothing more than a scene at the end of the film.

Since takes place just prior to A New Hope.

Not sure how realistic that is. From what I understand about the plot all that will happen in Rouge One takes place a few hours or days before the opening scenes of A New Hope where Leia is on-board the Tantive IV.

Yep but she & "R2D2" are carrying the info that they will steal in "Rogue One" so she gets it some how between the events in "Rogue One" and when we see her in "A New Hope". I'm assuming that the film ends with them handing off that info to Leia.

Yeah, my son loves The Phantom Menace. I think he likes the fact that a young kid is such a big part of it. Plus he loves the pod race sequence. But hey, he's five so what does he know? :)

Yep. My kids (5 and 3) love TPM for exactly the reasons you mentioned. But after the pod race they kinda tune out until the final battle scene.

Their fav is New Hope though. Or as they refer to it "the one with Luke in the trash".

EW has dropped some big Rogue One news about character and such. If you want to check out the news head over to makingstarwars.net

Forest Whitaker has been confirmed as playing Saw Gererra from the Clone Wars TV series. His character led a resistance group against the Separatists and has continued fighting against the Empire. His actions against the Empire has been called extreme by even the Rebel Alliance. Pretty interesting twist because this is the first time a character has made the jump from other venues to the movies.

Didn't Vader say several transmission were beamed to Leia's ship? I have a theory that the scene from the trailer with the AT-ATs attacking is the end of the movie and the heroes are trying desperately to send out the transmission to Princess Leia before being killed.

Interesting. That character was a little on the whiney side. Will be interesting g to see how he grew up.

Director Gareth Edwards when asked about the opening crawl (Idk if it's really a spoiler or not but whatevs)

We talk about that all the time. It’s something that we’re right in the midst of discussing even now, so I don’t want to say definitively what we’re doing. The crawl and some of those elements live so specifically within the "saga" films that we are having a lot of discussion about what will define the [stand-alone] Star Wars stories separate and apart from the saga films. So we’re right in the middle of talking about that.

I think they should skip the crawl and do a quick narrartion like in Clone Wars.... If anything.

I'm not sure what to think. I actually like that idea a lot, but at the same time the opening crawl is synonymous with Star Wars movies.

I agree but we've only ever gotten Saga Episodes as movies. This is a new animal. It needs to differentiate itself so the casual movie goer realizes this is not Ep VIII.

Very true. And on that point I went and saw Independence Day this past Friday and the Rogue One trailer was one of the previews and I heard a few kids behind me asking each other where Finn and Rey were at...

What are y'alls thoughts on this? Samuel L Jackson says that Mace Windu is still alive. He continues to say that Windu has been laying low like Obi Wan. Star Wars: Samuel L. Jackson thinks Mace Windu is still alive | EW.com

Of course this won't have any direct impact on Rogue One, but it's definitely interesting. I think it would be completely possible that he survived, but how would they bring him back in episodes VIII or IX? He'd have to be incredibly old.

My thought is everything that reminds me of the prequels needs to avoid showing its face in the Star Wars world for the rest of eternity
