Star Wars: Rogue One

The visuals are stunning (see the fallen Jedi statue at :40 mark). I think it truly captures how bleak and insignificant the Rebellion actually is against the Empire at this point. Seeing the Death Star, TIEs flying, and the looming presence of the Imperial Star Destroyer are amazing, nothing comes close to the OT time period IMO. Also I geeked out seeing original X-Wings in a space battle again :cray:

I wonder if that could be a preemptive strike by the Alliance which fails? I remember that an early new canon book, Tarkin (I think), addressed such a scenario where the RA launched an assault on the DS with a former Clone War era carrier loaded out with X-wings but the Death Star destroyed it with it's super laser.

Who are the 3k people that down voted that on YouTube. If you are a Star Wars fan that movie looks like it could be the best one since ESB.

If you aren't a SW fan then why did you even watch it?!?

I wish they would just scrap Episode 1 and 2 and redo them. This is what Star Wars is supposed to be like. Not that craptastic kiddyland BS that Lucas forced down our throats.

I'm surprised not see this thread more active we're 10 days out and can't wait. I had planned on going on Thursday night but I couldn't get off so I'm going Friday night. I think this is going to be a lot better than TFA.

No early reviews yet, but apparently there was a private 30 minute screening shown recently to a small audience.

All indications are that it has the potential to be one of the best of the entire series, based on what was seen.

Apparently the giant droid is fantastic and had the audience cracking up.

Redo all 3.
So much potential, and we got Darth Dork.

I'll disagree with redoing Episode II and III. Hayden Christensen was the absolute worst choice for Anakin. The storyline was fine and Ep III was pretty badazz in the fight scenes. But there certainly should have been better actors portrayed in the key roles. But Ewan McGregor was spot on as a young/getting older Obi Wan. Ian McDiarmid was perfect. Christopher Lee was great. And I dare you to say anything about Samuel L. Jackson. I double dog dare you mofo!

Ep II didn't have to get all sappy love story involvement so to speak. But the background on the Clone Wars was helpful as well as the background on Boba Fett.

But either way, someone else for Anakin please. And Padme might have been done better IMO. It's not Natalie Portman isn't a good actress, just wasn't her shining role in Ep II. Not horrible in Ep III, but they cut the scenes where she helped start the Rebellion which I thought should have been included.

Having said all that to say this, I do think they tried to cram too much into Ep III personally.

It wasn't all Christensen's fault. If you watch some behind the scenes videos of him and the rest of the cast they all have really great chemistry. So why is it some of them were so bland on screen? The script and Lucas' directing capabilities.

Take the scene in ROTS where Palpatine reveals that he knows the ways of the dark side of the force to Anakin. He says like 5 sentences, if I remember correctly, and all they wrote for Anakin was "What did you say?" How is anyone supposed to look good with crap lines like that lol

Ive always said Lucas rushed through the filming to get to the FX room. One take and print. Some actors, like McGregor, can do pretty will with that. Others need few more takes and a little direction.

It's a myriad of things. However, I just don't think Christensen was very good.

My opinion of course.

For those of you that watch Rebels show, their freighter or at last the same model ship makes an appearance in one of the new tv spots. Pretty cool if there is some sort of tie in in the show.

Would be cool even if they just name dropped Captain Syndulla or something.

I like Rebels a lot. My only complaint is how Ezra and Kanan line up with the biggerSW story. It always seemed like Luke was the last/only Jedi in the Rebel Alliance. Ezra would be about the same age as Luke but about 5 years ahead on training. I feel like they ultimately need to die before Luke comes on the scene.
