That is completely awesome.

I don't see Porkins listed as a character for Rogue One on IMDB but he has to at least make a cameo, right? He was the heart and soul of the Red Squadron on the Death Star raid.

Maybe a little Biggs Darklighter so we can at least pretend to be sad when he eats it on the trench run.

Did he and Wedge and Biggs have a bigger role in the alliance? Prolly won't have a subplot for random pilots. Would be cool tho.

On a serious note... I never understood why the prequels didn't include Grand Moff Tarkin. He clearly had Vader's respect (Leia even said he 'held Vader's leash') and he was a big deal on the Death Star. It was Tarkin who nuked Alderaan. It doesn't look like this movie is going to give any background into him either though. Kinda strange.

His (canon) book really delves into his background and past. It's really good if you are into that. He didn't technically outrank Vader because Vader was outside the chain of command but on the Death Star, Tarkin gave the orders since that was his turf. This movie will likely at least show why the Death Star belongs to Tarkin and not Orson Krennic.

Wedge was kinda a big deal in the Alliance.

Biggs was pretty fresh. Remember he had just recently left Tattooine himself. Attacking the Death Star was probably one of his first missions.

The world premiere was in LA last night and from the reviews it sounds like we got another SW masterpiece. Just from what I'm seeing is that it is a truly dark, gritty, war movie that makes you feel invested in the characters (Some have said it is better than ESB). Probably the most intrigued thing I've heard was that Vader has a scene or two of pure horror. Man I can't wait till Friday night!

Wedge was a pretty big deal and if I remember correctly had a few spin off books all about him.

The only reason I knew about Biggs,Porkins and Wedge, is this detailed comic book that covered the movie and had the extra asides. It didn't include the exchange between Han Solo and Jabba tho. I didn't read the canon books so I followed any follow up mentions of Wedge throughout the saga. My impression was that AFTER the Death Star, Wedge got quite a promotion but wasn't in any command position previously.

He seems to be just another pilot in the Yavin Death Star attack. He survives again on Hoth and by the Endor Death Star attack has been promoted to squadron leader. They actually tried to get him to come back for TFA but he declined which kind of sucks.

It was always fun as a kid mentioning his character and getting blank stares. :)
