Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX)

The pacing of the movie was strange and most of the time it felt like they were trying to correct everything from The Last Jedi. I also wasn’t a huge fan of Rey’s backstory.

Kylo and Rey were really good though, especially Kylo. the visuals were also fantastic. I’d give it a 3 out of 5. It definitely has its issues but it did a good job of tying up this trilogy after The Last Jedi derailed it. Good popcorn flick

Does anyone want to a separate Spoiler thread? Or just make this one the spoiler thread?

I won’t be seeing it till after Christmas but I know spoiler tags for full discussion is annoying.

I enjoyed Force Awakens a bit more, but it was considerably better than Last Jedi.

I just did't understand why they had to bring Jar Jar Binks back, only to have him kill Baby Yoda.

It HAD to be done.

I'll admit it did get weird when Palpatine revealed his brother is Thanos.

No spoilers here....

Easily the best of the new trilogy. Not even a question. There is actual Jedi lightsaber combat and use of the force that is exciting again.

There is a TON of cleanup from TLJ and it’s done pretty well. The pacing is fast and jumps from plot to plot, which is my only real complaint, but it was probably because it needed to spend time correcting TLJ so character development and storylines are done really fast.

I personally liked Rey’s back story. They also ended it where a follow-on movie or even new trilogy could be done. Or, it could just end. The ending was a great call back, that’s all I say.

The other easters eggs and call backs to the OT were numerous, but well done and not too over the top.

I was expecting the Leia stuff to be cheesy and even it wasn’t TOO bad.

Like others, I don’t get the bad reviews.

It's like hired EA to make a story for a video game, cancelled the game, but used the story for this Snore Wars instead.

Put me in the group that finds the bad reviews puzzling. It was well done, imo and I cried at the end like a nerd.

The best way I could describe it to a friend at work without spoling it was that it's like Abrams watched The Last Jedi then said....

Ultimately Disney is to blame for not having a vision for the entire trilogy. They should have nailed down Abrams for all 3 movies or at the least nailed down what the entire story will be. Letting Johnson basically do his own way in the second one split the fanbase and left them in a tough spot for the 3rd one. And if the talk is true that this one is mostly a course correction (i.e. trying to undo TLJ), then you're going to probably piss off the half of the fanbase that likes TLJ and risk not even pleasing the half that hated it and wanted it corrected.
Agreed that the problem is lack of single vision. We got a Camel instead of a movie trilogy.

George went overboard with the green screen and CG in the prequels it didn’t match the look of the OT movies
The final dual between Maul and Kenobi is one of the best in all of Star Wars. 99% of the battle was fought before either one made a move.

I will give Lucas some credit though. He was very involved in Clone Wars and it was him who told Filoni to bring him back. The way I heard it though, George said do it and the writers asked how then he told them to figure it out.

I know this discussion has been had a dozen times but I do think there is a good story in the prequels but Lucas had no one pushing back on him to reign in the bad ideas. That lead to the mess the movies became.[/QUOTE

. I don’t get why some people don’t like her well I think I know why, but I love her character.

I like HER just fine. I don’t care for some of the story choices for her. I hated she could do the Jedi mind trick in TFA. She had never seen anyone do that so how would she even know to try it? That is just one of several instances her power usage came to her too fast.

Stunning. Incredible.

The negative reviews everywhere are some kind if weird marketing ploy. IGN even just posted an article saying it’s their lowest rated SW movie, the post says “Do you agree it’s the weakest movie”

The comments are nothing but people replying about how ludicrous that is, and that it’s one of the best.

Also, as someone who is as anti-Rose as one can be (she was an awful character), I can’t help but laugh at how they basically gave her the boot in this one. What did she have, maybe 5 lines?

Yeah they totally "Jar Jar'd" her LMAO! GOOD! I hated her character!

Action-packed, for sure. It definitely explained a lot, good on the back story of Rey, visuals were over the top .... Just a little heavy on the cheese and didn't leave me totally satisfied. 3/5, certainly with the door open for more movies.

Disney ain't shutting down that cash cow likely ever

This movie was big garbage imo. It didn't have to be though, the entire trilogy was just out of whack from the beginning and this movie ended up suffering the most. It really felt like more of a sequel to TFA and tried to retcon a lot of stuff and explain waaaaay too much. It probably would have been much better if not for having to account for Rian Johnson and TLJ in the middle of two JJ Abrams movies. It is what it is.

I'll be anxious to see how this trilogy is remembered 10 years down the road. If history has proven anything, it's that people love to retroactively change their opinions on Star Wars. As of now though, this trilogy was a pointless, colossal mistake for me and that is a damn shame.
