Star Watching (merged)

Yeah you just need to bring in 4-5 stars that aren't complete idiots who care nothing about ruining their futures

Or how about the 2-3 star non-contributors, like:

Ricardo Kemp
Darius Myers
Antonio Wardlow
Dorian Davis
Blake Garretson
Justin Garrett
Dustin Lindsey
Chase Nelson
Lee Smith
Nick Stephens
Victor Thomas
Anthony Anderson
Deshaun Barnes
William Brimfield
Todd Campbell
C.J. Fleming
Cory Hall
Josh Hawkins
Tyler Maples
Daryl Vereen
Rufus Williams
Carson Anderson
Preston Bailey
Ben Bartholomew
Willie Bohannon
Steven Fowlkes
Casey Kelly
Rod Wilks (sorry)
Mike Edwards

Yeah, we should avoid 4-5 stars altogether! Best strategy ever!

OBTW, Aaron Douglas accomplished Freshman All-American status in the only season he played for us, just saying...

Ben Bartholomew was a decent player for us, he blocked for the likes of Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Travis Stephens.. we won a NC!!!

Demonte' Bolden
Wes Brown
Jonathan Crompton
Montario Hardesty
Rico McCoy
Chris Scott
Lucas Taylor
Jacques McClendon
Eric Berry
Gerald Jones
Chris Walker
Janzen Jackson
JerQuari Schofield
Marsalis Teague

Oh look, it's pretty much every recent impact player we've had!

Teague and Schofield are unproven. And most of those guys are/were average SEC players who didn't nearly live up to the hype.

I'll give you Wes Brown (bless him), Berry, Hardesty, and Walker. I'd take them on my team any day.

I agree with you, but this guy hasn't even played a snap.

Schofield is a starter and the vast majority of those guys were All-SEC players. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that 90+% of our All-SEC players over the past 5 years were 4* or higher.

That's not what I said. You obviously don't understand my point either.

yes we get it...blah blah

thats why you need to recruit the right ones...

2-3 stars are good for roster fillers but you aint going to win SEC and national championships with 2-3 star boy scouts...

That's not what I said. You obviously don't understand my point either.

If your point is that we're "not doing too well" with 4-5 star guys just because a few of them busted, my point is that we're doing even worse with 2-3 star guys because even more of them sucked. That simple.

Really? Lucas Taylor is one of like three UT WRs to go over 1000 recieving in a season in the 2000s.

And Rico McCoy has been a tackling beast. You wouldn't take him?

Whose list is longer? Yours or mine?

And how did Taylor do in 2008? He fell flat on his face.

Rico was a good, not GREAT Tennessee player.

Okay, if you'd rather have players who will get arrested, quit the team, or be a complete bust, that's your thing, not mine.

I'm not saying Dooley's class will win a national championship. I'm saying I'm sick of getting my hopes up about hyped recruits and then having them flake out on us.

I'm not going to worry about recruits, all I care about is the result on the field. And since most of our 4-5 star recruits have not worked out well lately, maybe the opposite will. We will just have to wait and see.

How many people didn't? Besides Eric Berry...oh, wait...he was a 5*.

How many 2-3*s were "GREAT?"

Look at Boise State's team the past few years. They sure made 2-3 star recruits look great. Who was their DC by the way? :dance2:

Fowlkes is still around and developing. Bohannon played and was praised by CMK last year. Bartholomew is in the two deep right now. Anderson played. Cory Hall was originally given 4* but was downgraded after going to JUCO. Stephens had the talent to start in the SEC. Wardlow played and contributed on ST's. Kelly plays baseball. Several other guys there never made it to campus.

Your list has alot of questionable insertions.
