State of Emergency: The Third World Invasion and Conquest of America

But...foreign auto makers, Euro and Asian alike, are building plants by the dozen with all the auxillary mfg. that accompanies them in the U.S. Especially, here in the southern non-union sector where textiles has fallen. And, they are making good profits. They pay extremely well. I am a manager, and a line worker at BMW makes more than me. You start out sweeping floors at $14/hr. All benefits are 100% company paid. Why can our own companies not do the same??
The key is "non-union" and auto-makers. Automobiles still are pretty pricy to ship per unit, therefore, the cost:benefit of paying American minimum wage works.

I'm not saying everyone will be or should be rich. That is historically impossible. And not human. There were beggars and lepers in biblical times as well. I'm talking about the systematic dismantling of America, and what we could be in 50 years. 20 years. 100 years. Maybe I'm wrong. But, our passivist, politically correct, don't offend anyone but an American way of government, can only lead to another civilization taking over.

Drop all the import tariffs on foreign autos like you did all the other industries and you'll see those auto plants go to India/Pakistan/China as well. It's not the shipping costs per se.

Americans have made known the same opinions during every massive wave of immigration, and I would argue every wave of immigration has made America a stronger country.

If you think the flow of US companies overseas is bad now, just drive out all of the illegals. THEN you will see what is left of the lower to no skilled factories go away. For one, there would not be a single textile mill here. For another, we'd be forced to buy chicken from another country.

Textiles was a major force in American economics for for well over a century. Specialty textiles that require quality of a higher nature still have their niche here and will not go overseas. We are already getting chicken from overseas. Fish as well. Most frozen fish is Chinese. Government policy created alot of this problem. Not immigration. It's a migrant workforce anyway. The company twenty miles over starts paying. $.50 hour more, they're gone.

GVF...you of all people should know better. Textiles all over this state have fled to overseas. Levis left Blue Ridge. Duckhead left Winder. Every mill town in GA has seen their life blood go overseas. As for chicken, you should know that every chicken farm between you and me would shrivel up and die if this labor force was deported.

Maybe. And if so, hopefully it will again. Issues arise due to complancency. If we are having these issues and immigration brings it to light, then we have something that needs fixing. not exactly the same american mindset in governemnt and other places as in the past, however. We don't seem to be geared towards the 'important' things in life.

We are still getting Tyson, Perdue, and Sanderson Farms chicken from the good ole US of A Corporations employing illegal immigrants. Beef is the same way. Head to an IBP plant closest to you and take a look around at who is working the floor.

That is true. But, I am not proud. If it came down to me supporting my family, I'd be in a chicken house. I know very well about textiles. And in SC and NC it has been even worse. But, the fact remains, Specialty textiles are strong and here. Generic textiles are different. Anyone can make towels or sheets. Hexcel, although not an American company, kicks butt in profits over in Anderson.

And with that NC example, you see one reason Heath Shuler has a serious chance against his GOP opponent.

That's my point in part. Right, wrong, or indifferent, middle america jobs have disappeared and been replaced with sub-par jobs they have not been forced or asked to accept in decades, or with tech jobs none of them have the ability to do. Many of these are unemployed while the lower replacement jobs are going to the immigrants. Those that really want to work probably are. Lazy will get us.

You can thank the Bushes for that big vacuum sound of American jobs leaving.....where is H Ross anyway?

The lower jobs are going to immigrants because they are not worth $5.15/hour.

The only saving grace for the entire I-85 corridor from Columbus to Charlotte, is the influx of foreign auto makers and the support companies that come with them. The SC Upstate has rebounded from its loss of textiles and is slowly becoming a strong economic force again. Unlike Hartwell, who wuldn't give incentives to Lowe's because it wasn't fair to the local owners. They said screw you and left with their 100+ jobs. Idiots. Hartwell alone has lost over 800 jobs in 24 months in a town of 7000 with Monroe on the ropes to boot, and they can't bring in others because they won't bait them. we have a good work force and are close to I-85. We should have our share of this new mfg.

So then it is a moot point. You are saying we need illegals here to furnish workers for textile and poultry plants to operate. So if we don't have illegals and that makes the plants leave, why do i care. There are nothing but illegals working there anyway.

Not true. The supervisors are still American's while these plants are in America. Once they move to Mexico, most lower middle class supervisors will not follow. Instead, they will lose their jobs.

Did I say all that work there were illegals? No. There is a demand for low to no skilled labor. A business will go where the labor force is. If they cannot find a decent labor pool and cannot make decent money, they will leave. For the labor pool argument, tell me why Kia passed MS up for GA for their new plant that now looks like a bust. They went where the labor force was better and more plentiful.

you said they could not make it without the illegals.

Exactly....does that mean the place is entirely illegals? No. Use any company as an example. Pull out even 20% of their labor force and see how it functions. Try 50%. Try 80%. It's still not 100% but has a crippling effect.

I agree it is not 100%, but if it is 80% and all illegals were taken away, thus causing it to close, then I do not find it to be a problem for the economy's sake.

If that happened, I'd hope you aren't too attached to chicken. It would disappear from many store's shelves.
