Memphis came to visit yesterday......the coach said "I can't believe you have flown this low under the radar for this long".

Being the person who called the Sports Animal about Stephen, he is the real deal and has what it takes to score when the game is on the line. McMinn County went to state playoffs this year a good part leading to there doing as well as they did was due to their kicking game. 98% of all kick offs were through the end zone, due to the way the season played out for the Cherokees there wasn't much field goal activity for Stephen, still the coach didn't have any problem throwing him in to try from 50 plus yards. If I could say that Stephen has one weakness it is that on punts he doesn't know what the coffin corner is and most punts from about 60 yards out ending up in the end zone.
I'm not a family member or a friend, just someone who likes football and would love to have him playing for the Vols instead of against them. He is already as good as if not better than the current kicking team at UT, I would put him up against Lincoln any day, and I believe he could hold his own against Mr. Britton Colquitt. You watch this young man and he seems to have ice water in his veins, he doesn't get rattled, he just does.

On video, I did find a site with video from the Houston Combine, by the way he won the kick off comp and killed everyone in doing it with outstanding hang time as well as distance.

Again Stephen has no clue who I am, and UT if you are listening, you could save a scholarship or two by signing Stephen, he can cover all three kicking positions and do all extremely well.

By the Way, there is another kid coming up behind him at McMinn who should step right into Stephens shoes...

Still no word from Knoxville...not even a letter or a simple phone call saying we are interested but dont have any funds available. Or we dont have a space for you but want you to come walk on....just something would be nice. But nothing.....
If you dont think he can get the job done then take the time to look at his video on active recruiting.
If tomorrow were signing day he will go to Austin Peay as they have rolled out the red carpet and offered him everything under the sun and that is hard to turn down.
Why would UT not atleast give the kid a chance to walk on?

Bigblue, you keep saying no word from Knoxville, but I haven't seen you say that your end has tried to initiate contact. You can't just sit back and wait for them to come. Ring the phones off the hook and beat down the doors until somebody gives you an answer of whether or not they have any interest.

A coach calling on the part of a recruit makes much more sense. I suspect that has already been done. I would love to see Stephen get a chance to walk-on. Historically though, the coaches don't focus at all on potential walk-ons until after signing day. That's when they usually extend the offer to walk-on. That may be the case here, so hang tight Steve.

I would guess FootballDad would be his daddy......I have seen him kick and yes he is impressive especially since he couldn't bust a window pane his frosh season. Maybe his HS coaches should have promoted the kid a bit harder his jr season and the Westen Kentucks of the world wouldn't be his only oppritunities.

You obviously haven't met McMinn's coach. Guy makes your average Bammer fan look like a mental giant.

Birdracer there has been a DVD and a bio sent, phone calls made from me, family members, and long time loyal supporters and even a few e-mails that have been sent directly to Kiffen from a major supporter.
My fealing on this is that Stephen is becoming a victim of the coaching change. When Fulmer and the former staff was there he had recieved a few letters and was invited to "Junior Day" and the Wyoming game. Since the new staff has taken over.....nothing!
Does that mean they think he doesnt fit into there plans or is it because he is a kicker and kickers are at the bottom of the recruiting food chain?
The plan is to contact the football office with a few calls on Monday and try to get an answer from someone.
Stephen was contacted by a PAC 10 team yesterday and a WAC team on Wednesday....dont think those schools are a factor but it tells me if schools from those conferences are looking at a kid from Tennessee then why isn't UT communicating with him?
