Stop being manly

That is one of my biggest pet peeves with the wife. The other week we’re in HD I thought we were looking at low voltage lights, I’m talking to her get no answer look around and she’s gone.

Glad somebody else has the same problem. And "gone" means utterly disappeared. I can be in a store with a son or brother and spot them within a minute, but I usually give up and pull out the phone to track down my wife.

Obviously you sir have never been married.

She's going to buy the stuff regardless. So, either you give the credit card up and let her go wild while you go fishing or follow her around the store while she creates a massive list of "Honey Do's" that'll cost you three times as much in time and funds.

Not to mention what it'll do to your blood pressure. At least with the credit card bill, that blood pressure spike is a one time deal.

What a wife is interested in varies by the second. Unless it involves something you've done "wrong" - ever; they can't stay on task or on track.

If mine runs in to the grocery for something, I can either go in or plan on watching the parking lot turn over at least three times - and she might come out empty handed.

Just uber home.

So true.

Been there done that, honey-do’s are cheaper since I get to pick the materials.

Watch any commercial. Any time there’s a man and woman and one looks dumb it’s always the man.
Like the Car Gurus ad with the poor ignoramus trying to find what kind of car he needs with a map on the wall, and the wife spends 2 seconds on her IPhone and finds it for him at a very good price. Very typical.

Were you following me yesterday? We were in the garden section for a good 45 minutes finding the right plant that will receive the perfect amount of sunlight. She picked it out in the first 5 minutes we were there and walked around for another 40 minutes just to pick the one she originally liked.
Tell me about it. I am retired from the retail greenhouse business.

In reality this is what we are dealing with. I know of no way to stop it other than begin selective sterilization and forced fostering of children. Pull the kids out of the hood and trailer parks and then put them in foster homes. Pay for their education and upbringing. Limit number of children welfare recipients are allowed to have and go from there. Now, having said that, it comes across as heartless, evil, anti-family, etc. But in truth this is what it will take to break the cycle. Throwing money at an issue and not making any life style changes is exactly what we have done for close to 60 years. It hasn't and isn't working. The leaders of color that were supposed to help break this cycle have their hands in the pie the same as the whites.

Believe it or not I had that thought while watching "Blind Side". The cycle of poverty and no hope for a future for Michael Oher was stopped cold in it's tracks. How do you repeat that cycle for everyone that needs it?
I told people this exact same thing 25 or 30 years ago, and they thought I was a horrible person. I said it's the only way to break the cycle, and it's not going to happen. So, we live with it.

You stay in the car while wife runs into the store. She will expect you to be waiting where she left you or in close proximity when she gets done.

Maybe you do. I drop myself off at home, tbh. If there were a scenario where it made sense, I would uber home. There is no scenario where i wait on her for longer than 5 minutes.

A great example of masculinity (ie; me at the office)

Blue font?

There are plenty of sitcoms where the Dad isn't an idiot*, and it's just supposed to be funny. My theory is that it's not that they are trying to teach some lesson that women are better...women play the "straight man", because men are funnier. :)

*I don't really watch sitcoms anymore, so a lot of these will be dated: Cosby Show, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Growing Pains, Full House, Modern Family (Phil's an idiot, but the patriarch is not), Arrested Development, Who's the Boss, Family Matters, the aforementioned Roseanne, Family Ties, Step by Step, I didn't watch Coach, but I don't believe Craig T Nelson was some kind of idiot, etc.
You always keep us in stitches.

I can’t believe how many people here send their kids to Baylor, McCallie, GPS, etc. and the vast majority wind up going to UTC or UTK. $100k down the tubes for what?
I know one man who has sent two to McCallie, but he says the connections they make there will benefit them later. I think some go to Yale or Harvard for the same reasons. I don't know. I went to public school.

I get the feeling one day Huff is going to suffer an unfortunate "accident" and gets run over in his driveway.
