Strong to Texas

Only gif that has ever made me laugh on here.

@YahooForde: Y Sports source: Charlie Strong has informed Louisville he is leaving for Texas. Announcement expected Sunday.

They are fluffing the hire like a good one on the Dallas news. Seems to be a better initial reaction than I expected. However, this isn't my normal news channel. The remote is too far from where I'm sitting and it's on the playoff channel.

So Texas settled for Strong, whom is a slightly better coach than Franklin. Good for them. I guess beating UF will get you a better job.

Just came on ESPN..Strong will inform Louisville that he IS taking the UT job....sorry..THE UT job LOL

Hopefully, texas will miss bowl games for the next 3 years so we can surpass them in bowl appearances. Strong won't make it to the NC game ever as texas coach.

Butch is recruiting well ,so they won't have an excuse except horrendous coaching. The talent is coming the coaching must be there to propel the talent over the top to complete the rise to the top.

I figured Strong was waiting for the UF job next year. He doesn't seem like a good fit for TX but he would've been an even worse fit at UTK. Best of luck to him except when he coaches against Vols, Baylor, OU, TxTech, SMU, TCU, Rice or Mercer Bears.

"When presented with national media opportunities to enhance the Cardinals’ profile, he routinely rejected them. Getting him to make promotional appearances that could enhance donor relations was an exercise in frustration. He left a lot of administrators and support personnel at Louisville exasperated at his unwillingness to do anything to sell the program outside the cocoon of the Howard Schnellenberger Football Complex."

Wow, that is not good. He would have been crucified here

That would be suicide at Tennessee. I'm actually happy that we didn't get him after reading that.

Its not going to go well at Texas either. Boosters like to see and hear what they're paying for and not being able to show off their "importance" will be like a slap in their uppity faces. Not a good fit..imo

He will bolt for Florida if that opens up

Dunno about that. Depends on his buyout from Texas (if he has one) and how well he does his first year. And considering they are two top tier programs? That's like trading in your Aston-Martin for a Ferrari. Well, in Florida's case, a Ferrari with four flat tires, needs an oil change and a broken clutch. But some repairs can have it back running smoothly in no time.

Anyway, couldn't see him using Texas as a stepping stone for a "destination job" especially in the condition Florida sits right now.

I think Strong is a Journeyman. He won't land too long any where

That's just how he comes off to me. The way he seems to distance himself from the school outside the football program

True, and he does tend to land back in Florida. But still, depending on the buyout, if any, Florida will have to pay a considerable sum if the $5 million a year is correct. That's a hard pill to swallow for any program.

That's what makes this hire strange to me. The talk all week was about how the Texas HC position was so much more than just the actual coaching job, and everything I've heard and read about Strong is he doesn't want to have anything to do with any of that stuff.

So he turns down UT for ut ...weather or not your happy he turned us down and we got butch...still would sting just knowing we couldn't pull him

I was more upset that we didn't get him because we went for an offensive guy over defense. Strong knew the SEC, could recruit in Florida, and was pissed off at our rival. I'm glad how Butch is doing, but at the time, I was sour because we didn't get a coach that focused on our weakness: Defense

I think Strong's biggest problem here (Louisville) is he didn't like being number 2. I remember a couple years back when UofL made the final 4, he threw a ***** fit because nobody was talking about football.
