Student Suspended For Removing Mexican Flag

huh??? where did this get to illegals???

and they didn't assimilate. if they did, we'd all act like indians. they created their own culture.
Non English speaking European immigrants definitely assimilated to the culture of the country they were immigrating to. You can say the original English colonists didn't, but it's beside the point.

as far as other people's culture aren't in the public eye, they're ok with it. They're all for immigrants celebrating their culture as long as they don't have to see it.
Displaying a Mexican flag isn't celebrating culture as much as it is displaying an allegiance to another country.

yeah, beside the point when it goes against you, lmao

For a min. there you got away from the extremes. I see you have returned.

If they are legal citizens, they have come together under our flag. I have not seen anyone post that they should be forced to burn their heritage, and only be allowed to sport our colors.

Wouldn't you think that being allowed to wear their country's colors, fly their country's flag, paint their house their country's color would be enough?

You have regularly brought up the "why do you care" question. And in return, given the statements above, why do they in this instance? They have not been stripped of their personal rights to their heritage.

Give me your tired, your weak, your hungry.
How about you all go back to YOUR f'n countries. This is a land of immigrants. Those students aren't illegal, they're American students, of Mexican heritage. No one desecrated "our" flag, and the only one @ fault is the vigalante "liberty" fighter. There's a way to go about things, this wasn't it, given the circumstances.

I assume, you'd be ok with my son displaying the Confederate flag at his school. After all, he's celebrating our family's past and Southern heritage.
it's his right. hopefully he makes it through the day... but if you want to compare the stars and bars to the mexican flag, go right ahead.

Fixed it for you.

Maybe the "liberty fighter" shouldn't have taken down the flag, but the school was absolutely wrong to hang it up.

you're right. It's a flag that doesn't represent hate but i'll be darned if it's hoisted anywhere near the american flag. But the Irish flag is different somehow.

and I care because they're not telling you to take down the american flag. you're the one taking away their choices that in no way, shape or form brings hate unless you have a preconceived notion about mexicans and the whole illegal immigration stuff.

It's not bringing hate. No one is saying that. It's not promoting Mexican culture, it's promoting Mexico.

yeah, it's obviously promoting mexico, but celebrating mexican culture doesn't promote mexico??
It's promoting their culture, not the country. Honestly, if it were just some decorations in some classrooms, it wouldn't bother me so much. What bothers me is they simply hung a Mexican flag, which I have little doubt was more about appeasing the Mexicans than celebrating anything.

This story doesn't bother me nearly as much as the other story about the 5 kids getting suspended. I'm annoyed about a Mexican flag being displayed like that in a public school, but I was furious about the other situation.

i don't know, when i celebrate mexican heritage (i.e. eat their style of food), i tend to think of the country of mexico. maybe that's just me.

i have friends in both the city and country. family in both the city and country. have worked in both the city and the country. the people i know in the city are far more tolerant of other cultures than those in the country.

i experienced racism in the workplace, with people openly using the n word, in the country. do this speak for everybody in country towns? nope. but to say people in the country are just as tolerant as other cultures as those in the city isn't true. it's only natural. when you've only been exposed to one way, of course you're gonna think that way is the correct and only way to do things.

Incredibly dense.
