How is it challenging American culture?
They put up the flag inside the school to recognize a holiday. They didn't force all of the students to sing the Mexican anthem or wear their colors.
My views are I don't think we should force our culture on someone else or refuse to let others celebrate theirs.
The fact that this is such a big deal to all of you puts your views in perspective.
really???? when people came over from Europe, all of them spoke English??? WRONG... it's developed over time, still doesn't make it a set culture. i can go to many houses where i live and find people doing it different ways, that includes NOT speaking english. If you don't realize the American culture isn't an English speaking one, you don't have the common sense for this debate.
Hanging a Mexican flag isn't celebrating Mexican culture, it's endorsing Mexican national pride.
I bet you think I'm a white supremacist, too.
but you're exposed more to what each person can do. in my mind, that outweighs it.
if all i had to go on was the news and i lived in a country town with very little diversity, i'd probably be racist too
Heck yes. How could you ever have life experience close to way he has racked up. Why, he lives in a city and is married to a naturalized citizen. Who can mtch those bona fides? Are you suggesting that we are just some small town people who have never lived in a diversified region and that is the reason that we feel the way we do??
They didn't bring American culture, they brought their own culture and assimilated to American culture. Something illegal immigrants don't seem willing to do.really???? when people came over from Europe, all of them spoke English??? WRONG... it's developed over time, still doesn't make it a set culture.
I am sure that you can agree with me that serving in the military will give you a great appreciation for different cultures and backgrounds.Heck yes. How could you ever have life experience close to way he has racked up. Why, he lives in a city and is married to a naturalized citizen. Who can mtch those bona fides?

Nice profile.
I went to a high school of 1200. 9 black students total.
2 of those 9 rode to school with me everyday. One went to church with me on several occasions. They were two of my better friends in school.
No, it's their to help represent the culture of the place where the language is spoken. If they were to have hung it outside above the American flag I would agree with you.
So is the French teacher hanging France's flag in her classroom endorsing French national pride?
Yeah, I must be really intolerant towards my parents, my brother, my uncles, my aunts, my cousins, and many of my friends. I don't even let them speak their native language without yelling at them.Nope, just intolerant.
Unless the school does something like this for every other countries important holidays, it's endorsing Mexico, which should not be done in the United States.
But they cannot fly it inside a school that probably has Mexican-Americans?
I wouldn't, but I'm not stupid enough to think it should be hung up in schools.Cinco de Mayo just happens to be a holiday that we celebrate in America. Mainly to find an excuse to get wasted, granted. But i don't see why we shouldn't allow a Mexican-American to celebrate it openly.
Should we, as Christians, go and tear down a flag of the star of David during Hanukkah?
i have friends in both the city and country. family in both the city and country. have worked in both the city and the country. the people i know in the city are far more tolerant of other cultures than those in the country.Heck yes.
