don't know the whole situation based on that article... the flag shouldn't have been taken down, though... an american flag shouldn't have been taken down... any flag shouldn't have been taken down. it's not a symbol of hate. it's a symbol of the culture of the students at that school.

This is the type of attitude that is destroying this country.

You are aware that you are in the United States.

and you are aware there are many cultures in the united states?? why do you have a problem with another flag by the US flag, especially if kids from that school are from other countries or have a different nationality? another flag being up does nothing to tarnish the US flag.. it's all about celebrating differences instead of forcing people to do it "your way."

for people that can not stand when the government "tells" them what to do, you guys surely have no problem telling a kid they can't put up a flag of the country they come from at THEIR school

Because they are in the U.S. When they come to this country, they live by our rules. They dont live in that country. You can celebrate your culture without flying another flag over American soil. Multi-culturalism is what is destroying this country. Hyphenated-American instead of just plain American.

I have friends that live overseas and they dont refer to themselves as American-German.

Give the PC a rest

If someone wants to fly the Mexican flag, or any flag other than a State Flag or the Stars and Stripes, by all means , feel free to take your happy behind back to the country from which you came.

I don't mind a flag being displayed at the house of a Mexican family, but it's stupid to fly it in a public school. What about kids of other cultures that may be offended?

Their school? I thought it was a Texas public school, not a Mexican school. My mistake.

and tell me where "our" rules state another flag can't fly beside the US flag... I'm thinking that is your rule, and a sad one at that.

Pretty sure, if you go to a school, you can claim it as your own. Do you claim UT or any other school you went to as your own.

I do. When a football game is on, I say we. I'm not alone

Let the school deal with that. If the administrators don't have a problem with it, than who cares?? It's a flag for crying out loud. It hurts nobody.

I guess I'm so American that to you I'm un-american.

I guess I should just bow down and let them do what they want.

Like what was said above, let them display their flag in their home or business, but not in a place that is paid for with taxpayer money, like a school.

I guess you would be cool for them to have every flag of every nation, flying at our courthouses, monuments, The Capital building, etc..

Better yet, why dont you go to another country and put up the American flag in a school and see what you get. Try Venezuela first!!

i couldn't care less if they put up other flags of other countries at those places you mentioned... if it's represented of the people of that area, i yet to see why that offends you so much?? the american flag will still be there. it's not causing hate. instead, it's celebrating culture. and, i couldn't care less about what they do in venezuela. we're the united states. we supposedly tolerate differences that we have.

United States Flag - Etiquett* -* www.PoetPatriot.com

"Display of foreign flags must comply with U.S. Flag Code when on U.S. soil, meaning the U.S. Flag should be present and in the prominent position as spelled out in the U.S. Flag Code"

So Cash, they cant freely fly their flags unless a U.S. flag is present and in prominent position.

Sorry!!!

Again, we are in the United States. We are not in Mexico. If they are American citizens, then they "pledged allegiance" to the "American Flag".

If you failed to remember

The Pledge of Allegiance
I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

If a Florida fan attends UT, should he put posters of Tim Tebow on the walls?
