United States Flag Etiquette

just an fyi regarding the etiquette related to the US flag.
No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof

where does it say another flag can't be present?

Does that not count?

it doesn't, my post wasn't intended to add to any argument you're having with others. You asked about the rules.

Now, the rules do state that whenever an international flag is displayed, the US flag must also be displayed. So if that picture of a lone Mexican flag is accurate, it is wrong. The US flag should have been displayed right next to it, to the viewers' left as they walk toward it.

and with that, i have no problem... have all the flags present... i just don't have an issue with it.

They support them by wearing Gator jerseys or by hanging Florida banners in Neyland stadium?
yep, they wear gator jerseys in neyland stadium... they do everything that any UT fan does in neyland stadium, expect with gator colors.

That's okay. However, I was asking if they hang Florida Banners on the walls at Neyland? That's the comparison.

that's not my arguement. ya'll were arguing the US flag should be the ONLY flag in those schools. i disagreed with that notion.
It should be the only flag present, but I was arguing the notion that the Mexican flag can be shown alone.

serious question, is that allowed for any fan to do in neyland, outside of say cheerleaders or something. i don't know.

No. I'm pretty sure students aren't allowed to hang American flags on the walls of the school, either.

i remember seeing old footage of seeing banners of players, like in cartoon form or something like that. don't remember recently, but i haven't been looking for it either.

Cash Vallin is obviously an illegal - or has strong ties to one.

That's fine if they want to celebrate their "culture" - but that's not really celebrating culture rather than pronouncing allegiances. They can eat all the mexican food they want at that school, celebrate all the mexican holidays, and beat some damn pinatas during lunch for all I care - those are better examples of celebrating their culture. I bet most of those kids were born and raised in the U.S. and never lived a day in Mexico. It's always confusing when that occurs - their grandparents may have lived in some random country - and if they want adopt some values and traditions of the culture cool - but some people act like that nation is their #1 priority and allegiance.

They can fly their Mexican flag at home, proudly - as well - if that's truly where their allegiance lies. Although if you're in this country - and are able to work/go to school legally then maybe you should be celebrating America as well.

But it's a whole different situation when it's a whole nother nation's flag hung like - in a state or government owned property.

Yeah - the U.S. is a melting pot - and we supposedly take pride in that - but we take pride in the fact that we're all Americans even though we have so many different backgrounds/colors/races.

Bottom line - we're still our own nation despite being so accepting of so many different backgrounds (and people who come here should respect that) - not just a a bunch of nations combined to one - and we should have better national pride.

Props to the kid that took it down. He obviously was offended by it.

I mean, if the US flag offends immigrates from other countries, and they are not forced to deal with it, why should this kid when it comes to his countries colors?

i have no ties to illegal aliens, and this issue really has nothing to do with that. i am, however, married to somebody from another country who is now a legal citizen. she teaches world cultures. she has many flags in the room. nobody in the school complains. it's a non-issue, unless people make it one.

sorry people come from different countries and are proud of it. nothing wrong with a school having another flag along with the american flag, if the administration okays it. yet, somehow, you want to control that too. i bet, though, you hate when the government tells you what to do. but somehow this is different.

it's cool, though. the law is on my side with this one. nobody in their right mind would propose the american flag be the only flag that can be hung at a school. and if they did propose, it would get shot down beyond quickly.

on top of that, nobody is a true-blood american. my family come over from europe (italy, england) many generations ago and i take pride with those countries. i'm more interested in them than most out of the US.
