Good to see you back around. Where have you been hiding?

I have been here checking out posts, just haven't posted in awhile. Been busy moving. Marking down the days on the calendar until September...

I am old enough to remember the pre-Fulmer days, and I appreciate what Fulmer has done for this program. I get frustrated, just like everyone else, with some of his stubborness(keeping RSanders way too long at OC) and conservative game plans, but it's hard to argue with his record. Last year was a fiasco, no doubt about it, but Fulmer is all Vol and I think we should circle the wagons and get behind him.

I support him and for once am glad to see a thread like this. We all need to get behind our beloved VOLS and get over last season.
I was so tired of the negative posting, I was beginning to wonder if this was a pro VolBoard or just a hate Fulmer board.

I just want to watch the vols play and say; man, they are really ready to play today! always seems that the other team has more fire in their belly. I dont think fulmer does the best job pregame. watch those highlight videos the university puts out and watch the pregame speeches and tell me how the players stay awake. half of them are wearing headphones and thats another story.

If the University was filming my pregame speech, I probably wouldn't say what's really on my mind either.

Anybody criticizing a CPF pregame speech obviously never saw a Johnny Majors speech.

Good point. However, if the cameras kept me from saying what I really wanted to say the stinkin' cameras would be gone or I would be gone!!!

Well, I'm sure that they don't tape every pregame speech.

Well maybe they should just let the cameras in for the Vandy or South Carolina games. Oops, had a problem with them too last year... :banghead:

Can't say I'm 100% but overall I think he has done and can continue to do a good job. Another year like last year and I'll change my mind.
I think that's about where I am. I support Coach Fulmer but we better get it done this year or I might be switching to the dark side!

I say let Bruce Pearl do the pregame speeches.

Speaking of Pearl, a buddy of mine claimed to have seen him today in the Cedar Bluff area in a new Porsche with the sticker still on. :biggrin2:

Pearl probably wouldn't mind doing it either.

Anyway back to the thread.

I can't take another season like the last one. I can't remember being more frustrated than I was last year with just about every aspect of the game. By my standards, 9-3 is a down year. So I'm hoping for a big rebound this season.

I know that I've been labeled a Fulmerite because I don't constantly bash all things Tennessee and I stick up for the program and that's fine. Fact is, I just don't think it's healthy to hold on to something as bad as last season. It's time to look ahead and put the past behind us. It wasn't fun by any means, but it's not the end of the world either.

However, instead of turning this into another NegaVol vs. Fulmerite thread I'll simply say this...

I'll support Fulmer for another couple of years. I agree with those who think we've gone too long without an SEC championship or BCS bowl. I think everyone deserves a chance to turn things around and Fulmer is running out of time. He's been great for the program, there's no doubt about that. But everyone's time comes and goes. We'll just have to wait and see if Fulmer's is in fact gone.

I know that Fulmer is all Vol though. If anyone thinks that he's content with the Vols losing to anyone, you're wrong. The SEC is a tough conference and football is a tough game. You can't win them all.

I look for the coaching changes to be effective and for the Big Orange to have a chip on their shoulder this season. It all starts with taking care of California.

All I have read for several months on this board, is how bad Coach Fulmer is.He's a hometown boy, played ball at UT, won us a national title that some of us waited on alot longer than some others on this board and apparently appreciate more. While I respect different opinions, I would still like a hand count if you are 100% behind Coach Fulmer, please sign off on this thread. No one is happy about last season, but it is just as important to make sure you show what side of the fence you are on IMO.Are you in the Fulmer camp or not? Please don't be a fence rider.

Use the OTHER coach Fulmer thread for your BS and whining.

Well said, BRAVO!

Hey, man, you posed the question originally. Are you in the Fulmer camp or not? Why dog people when they answer the question?

My only knock on Fulmer is that we have come out flat and been outplayed way too many times in big games. I am of the opinion that part of the head coach's responsibility is being a motivator. Thank God we had Al Wilson on the team in '98.

BTW, utfan, my wife grew up in Winchester (Huntland technically). We get back there occasionally. Beautiful part of the state.

this is about where i stand as well....at this point in time given last year, and the declining performance of the program the previous 3-5 years before that, it's hard to say that some change wouldn't be good for the program. But it's also hard for me to just trash the guy when he has done so much for the program as well. For me, i'd love for CPF to be the guy that turns it around and gets us back to where we need to be. If he doesn't, and proves that he can't do it, then change is inevitable and i'd support that.

cause i think it was hillbilly that said it, CPF is NOT the program. I support the program. If CPF is the guy in charge of that, he'll get my support until the PROGRAM can't get any better under his leadership. Last year to many is proof that that time has come, and surely 5-6 is no indication that the program is headed in the right direction. but it was his first losing season ever. Give him the chance to turn it around, if he does, great. If he doesn't or can't, for the good of the program, make a change and i'll support it.

I have a feeling that there are a lot more fence riders like myself than either of the pro or anti fulmer people on the board. Most of us are in a "wait and see" mode.

They dog you because you didn't give the official UTAD sanctioned answer. This thread was set up to be a lot like the "elections" they hold in Cuba and North Korea.

I completely support CPF. I believe he has taken the program to heights that it has never been before. During his tenure, all he has done is win, except for last year. He has consistently brought in stellar recruiting classes. He has brought the volnation a NC and a couple of SEC championships. He has consitently beaten Bama. What more could anyone ask for? When I was in high school ('92 - '95), all I hoped for was that one day, the "National Champion could be clad in Big Orange". It happened. '98 was awesome!!! The program is still in good shape. Last year was a mess, but it was mostly due to terrible luck and mistakes by players on the field. Coach Fulmer took too much of the blame for all of the mistakes. There is only so much a coach can control. I believe we are in for a pleasant surprise in '06. Look for the Vols to make a run at the SEC East Title!
