Survivor - Edge Of Extinction

I decided to make my way through the seasons since the champs season is upcoming. I'm halfway through season 1, it's not bad for a first season of a show, see BB and The Challenge. But these comps are so bad, One was swim out and bring a raft in, one was eat worm, yes I said eat a worm. Lol It may change but I thought Hatch was a villain, everyone loves him so far.
My first season was 28 I think. Cagayan when
Tony
won. I liked the show so much I went back and started with season 1 to re-watch the whole series and I was kinda like you. WTF is this? Swim and bring in a raft? These guys are idiots. Vote by first letter of name? Hatch is the only smart person here. I thought he was hated.

That's when I remembered it was like 13 or 14 years difference. The game from season 1 is very different to what it is today. Show production, rules, and player mentality is nothing like what it was.

The show in its current form is almost nothing like it was in the early days, especially Season 1. It's been years since I've seen any of that season, but as I recall, wasn't there a faction of people on the island who actually looked down on the tribe members who were voting as a group/alliance as being borderline cheaters?

IIRC many of the cast though the vote should be based on who can survive the best, who can contribute, who can help in challenges/around camp, ect. Except that one guy that just voted based on alphabetical name because he thought it was fair. They took the "Survivor" title in a single interpretation of who can survive in a primitive outdoor environment instead of "Outwit Outplay Outlast". I can't remember if they thought it was cheating but I think there was people unhappy about allied voters working together.

Hatch just saw it as a numbers game. So the whole season it was Hatch's alliance vs single players. They had no chance.

The last episode the dude voted by alphabetical order, I laughed pretty hard. It might swing on Hatch, a couple people are suspicious of him but nobody really dislikes him yet.

All but like Hatch, his 2 girls and the old dude are like let's just wing the vote no alliances. So strange lol

The last episode I watched, about 5 or 6 people were crying about voting together. It was the first vote after the merge and almost everyone got a vote, except those 4 that voted together.

Anybody watching Island of the Idols? Hasn't been a great season but there is a lot to unpack, especially after last night's episode.

It's weird because there are a lot of solid players, very few bad payers, and no great players. Usually, there is a decent mix of each. My biggest frustration with this season is after most tribals I don't really understand why the person who went home went home. Like last week, why was it Jack? They go to tribal saying two names and then a third name goes home and nothing specifically at tribal indicates why that happened.

Jack went home because Kellee played her immunity idol perfectly to save Dean AND she got Norrah to vote Jack out. However, because Norrah can’t keep her mouth shut, it all backfired on Kellee and she went home with two idols in her pocket the next week.

But we didn't know this until the next week, right? Jack came out of left field. Going into tribal, we knew she was going to save Dean but it was set up to look like Jamal was the target, not Jack. Maybe I missed something.

Oh, and Dean is a fkn dope. He could have totally saved Kelly. Why wouldn't he tell her she's the target? She could have saved herself and then he still has one ally.

It was an either/or Jack/Jamal, and I don’t remember her rationale, but she did have one.

How are so many people going home with idols. The sexual harassment is clear cut for me. But all the going home with idols, that's inexplicable.

Quote of the season: "we both have experience being black." - Aaron

Every time he gets screen time it's a race for me and my wife to first say "he has experience being black."

If you go home with not one but two idols that's on you and nobody else. You literally have an idol to burn even if your name doesn't get written down. Kellee claiming to be such an analytical person she should have seen it coming.

Add to it the way they edit the show she could have asked Dean if she was going way before anyone brought Kellee's name up.

Sure, she is to blame too but he only had one ally and didn't even tell her...using an idol incorrectly costs you an idol. Sharing that info with her would have cost him nothing

Karishma may be the worst player ever in the history of this show. Her lucking out and finding an idol, along with people willing to carry her to the end (since she’d never get voted the winner) are the only reasons she’s still around.

Karishma is so useless, how can one person be so athletically challenged? I'm surprised she can walk on the beach without falling over.

Karishma made this one of the best tribals of the season. For that, she's useful. These idiots let their personal distaste for her get in the way of the game. They're supposedly worried about her because she's a free agent but why not take out a top competitor who is already aligned with your enemy? It makes no sense and Elizabeth's teammates got what they deserve. Everybody should want Karishma in that final 3.

I've changed my mind. These players aren't very good. To recap:
  • The team with power was drunk on it and didn't see the revolt coming.
  • Dean gets chicken and blows up their plan.
  • Karishma and the underdogs say "I knew Noura couldn't be trusted" even though the only reason she's lying is because Dean put them all in a bad spot.
  • The power side uses the opportunity to vote out the worst player in the game.

I agree they should have kept Karishma. There are far too many other worthy targets to eliminate instead of her.

The problem I think is the only threatening player out of that temporary alliance is Elaine. Dean hasn't done anything. Nobody likes karishma and noura is crazy. Tommy, Lauren, Janet, and Dan aren't thinking about taking each other out yet. They're still playing as an alliance to get to the next vote but they're making their game more difficult by doing so. At the same time I don't see dean, Elaine, or karishma trying to break up that alliance by pointing out those 4 would be better off not facing each other at the end.

Too many people playing based on their feelz. Someone will flip it soon.
