Swiperboy done rapping

I couldn't care less if he wants to rap. What I think is a joke is how he claims to be the "best new rapper" out there and explains how he is so "underappreciated." I find his arrogance amusing.

As said in Johnson Family Vacation: "What's all that bad rapping you listen to? All that lick me and suck me?" Swiperboy was clean and good unlike others!

I love me some rap but I look at Swiperboy's stuff as seriously as Weird Al's . It's novelty rap.

The reality is... that novelty NOW sells
Ever heard of Rebecca Black? Youtube sells AD time. Unfortunately for Renaldo, he probably can't accept any cash because of NCAA rules. After he graduates...if he is SMART he needs to make a deal with Tennessee. How many students/fans would buy a CD if Tennessee was marketing SB through their outlets?Music business is a business for a reason. You make me money? You'll make money.

I think most people get that. What bothers my are the generalizations that it all sounds the same or isn't music.

Anybody who thinks hip-hop all sounds the same aren't listening to the true artists that are out there.

The pop BS they play on the radio and what passes for country today all sounds the same to me but that doesn't mean that I'm too ignorant to recognize that there are tremendous musicians in each genre.

Rap/hip-hop is full of hacks who are just trying to make a buck but the same can be said for any style of music with mass appeal.

Artists like The Roots, K-os, Matisyahu, Outkast, Lupe Fiasco, etc are few and far between but make it all worth it. Even the less "enlightened" stuff has it's place.

SB - Haters gonna hate! Don't give up on your dream not matter what!

Also realize, it's hard to make it in a place where country music, Jack Daniels and NASCAR are king... wrong demographic.

Get your degree, keep your Faith in God, and when you graduate, get the hell outta there and go to a BIG city where your talents can be appreciated.

No offense, but how many rappers do you know blowing it up from K-town??

Try Atlanta, NYC, Chicago or LA...

You mean the Knoxville N.U.T.S. or the East TN Playa's Compilation aren't bigtime?

I like SB, but the basketball team must have gatorade spiked with Dust of Delusion powder that he and hop hit quite often.

He didn't even have the best single on the BBall team in recent memory.

"I Put On for Tennessee"- by B. Maze was tops IMO.

Why quit? I hope it's something else as the whole "under-appreciated" angle is pretty stupid. If it's something he enjoys doing then he should do it. He comes off as a bit of a quitter if it truly is for that reason.

SB's blog....I completely understand where he's coming from and what he's saying. I'm not hating on the guy at all, but he feels under-appreciated because he's not as good as he thinks he is. He has tremendous talent, but he was just not going in the right direction. I really appreciate his vision to make a lyrically cleaner rapping style, but if you want to do that, your lyrics have to be either be deep or incredibly complicated. His second problem was that the music (or "beats" as they like to call them) was/were subpar. There's no other way to say it. IMO, he needs to just work on his stuff without dropping a mixtape every 2 weeks. It's good to put out, but when you're cranking out that much stuff in such a short amount of time, a lot of it is going to mediocre.

I hope he doesn't really quit (I doubt he will), and I hope he can find the guidance he needs to make himself appreciated. He just needs a little bit of help IMO.

I agree. I'm betting that he's just upset right now. I can't really imagine him truly quitting. He just needs to take some time off and come back with a new attitude IMO.

He's just looking for some attention. And, it looks as if he's received it. Mission accomplished for him.
