Syrian Kurds are close to declaring Independence

The decision was made without consulting US allies or senior US military leadership

Of course he didn't, he's unmatched in his wisdom, just ask him. Seriously though, remember when his minions shored up his political amateurism with a reassurance he'd surround himself with the best? Now that the best have all been fired or quit, he won't even talk to the few experts he has. Good thing that Obama care was repealed, he eliminated debt and got the wall built - otherwise people might start thinking he's not all he was cracked up to be.

The Joint Chiefs are leaking information about their interactions with Trump that’s how bad things have gotten.

Scary times for sure. Since we're energy independent why don't we leave that region to the Europeans, Africans and Russians and take that money and shore up our own defenses against terrorism. I'm tired or the US being the world police force and the Nato cash cow.

"The abrupt policy decision to seemingly abandon our Kurdish partners could not come at a worse time. The decision was made without consulting US allies or senior US military leadership & threatens to affect future partnerships"
So?

Why should the average American care WTF is going on in The Levant?
I understand your isolationism perspective. Most don't care about that, most care about how we treat our allies. Trump's allegiances can be flipped on a dime but the American value of honor is not so easily swayed when talking about the right thing to do.

I'm torn between, "holy sht - that's NOT ok" and "holy sht, how terrified are they that they'd need to do this?"

It's not isolationism. It is non-intervention. We can still trade and engage in commerce with whom ever we want. But as far as military alliances are concerned, we should avoid at all costs.

The right thing to do is to worry about defending our own borders and (re)establishing freedom here at home.

Thanks for the correction but I will disagree with the last sentence.

Hate to say look at it from Turkey's side but they are hosting 3.5 million Syrian refugees that would probably like to go home

Can you do me a favor? Go find out how many arms shipments made it to the Kurds under Obama and let me know.

Thanks.

That has nothing to do with the situation at hand. We need to keep our word to our Allies and the Kurds need their own nation. Plus, human lives should always "trump" hotel buildings. The second Turkish campaign of genocide within 100 years could happen if we leave northern Syria.

This is just a question no flaming ..How do you turn Northern Syria into Kurdistan ? Is there international support for that and would it take a ground war to make that happen ? I'd love for it to happen that they got their own country btw

A former senior Obama official confirmed to NBC News that after months of disagreement, the Obama administration had decided to arm the Syrian Kurds — but in January incoming National Security Adviser Mike Flynn asked his counterpart, Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice, not to do it.
McClatchy first reported that Flynn had blocked the plan to arm the Syrian Kurds for an attack on Raqqa, the ISIS capital in Syria, a move that was opposed by the Turkish government, which Flynn had been paid $500,000 to represent.

So, zero.

Furthermore, what about the Iraqi Kurds?

Two other things from the article?

Whether Flynn consulted with anyone before making the decision is also unknown. The White House did not respond to questions about whether Trump or his secretary of defense nominee, Jim Mattis, signed off on the decision.

The decision came 10 days before Donald Trump had been sworn in as president, in a conversation with President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, Susan Rice, who had explained the Pentagon’s plan to retake the Islamic State’s de facto capital of Raqqa with Syrian Kurdish forces whom the Pentagon considered the U.S.’s most effective military partners. Obama’s national security team had decided to ask for Trump’s sign-off, since the plan would all but certainly be executed after Trump had become president.

I don't leave things out. I allow you to read it for yourself. Always have, unless I have to quote the whole thing from pay sites that give you a few articles.

How many times did Obama abandon them? Just to keep you from losing sight of what's going on now with the Kurds.

So, zero.

Furthermore, what about any of our allies?

Kinda hard to abandon them when they weren't being supported to begin with.

Regardless, as I explained to Septic earlier, all weapons transfers to Iraq had to go through Baghdad. And zero of that equipment/arms went to Kurdistan. How much of it ended up on the news being captured by ISIS in northern Iraq?

And, as I pointed out above, ISIS had been operating in that area for how long before the decision was finally made to arm the Syrian Kurds?

Don't make this Trump specific. The Kurds have been ****ed over by us for years.

You left out the most damning parts.
