Syrian Kurds are close to declaring Independence

That's a good example. Although, it looks like Syria is poised to be carved up some more. I'm interested in what concessions Russia/Assad may offer the Kurds, and how Turkey may react.
I’ll be shocked if Syria is actually broken up to make a Kurdish sovereign nation. Not saying it won’t happen. Just saying I’d be shocked.

You’re still trying to rationalize it’s ok and righteous even for us to fill a power vacuum... even if we had a hand in creating it. And we de facto DID create it in Iraq. GTFO with that war hawk rationalization. You can and we in fact have used that rationale to maintain a constant state of war for 18+ years now.

And your answer to all this is.........chaos because MAGA.

Bull **** Carlos. I’ve been very clear of my motive here. Continual war for 18+ years in the Middle East. And now we’re looking at ANOTHER damn conflict you idiots want to drag us into. Hell no!

Bring our troops home. Signed, a reformed war hawk.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath, it'd just be a big move on the world stage, and a major WTF moment for the world powers.

The one thing that has utterly amazed me in all this is the sudden blood lust from the left to try and obstruct pulling our troops out.

I expect it from the war hawks on the right and even left from a smaller section. But the sheer overnight growth of war hawks just to screech here is frigging lunacy.

If Trump would have left the troops in place and we ended up fighting Turkey because some were killed they would be bitching he didn't pull them out.

Yep. There was no good answer ANY president could pick here. I’m glad the one in place chose get our people out of the line of fire. I see no reason to attach it directly to Trump. At this point I would hope whomever is in place would have chosen to not get into yet another damn conflict, with this one even having deep long ethnic back story. Oh hell no.

The fact that is it Trump whom chose to do it, which is in line with his campaign statements to get us out of the ME, just sends their leftist heads spinning and spitting pea soup and making them overnight war hawks.

Some where John McCain is looking up from a hot sauna and smiling.

Now who is being dishonest? The objections have been about a hasty decision to withdrawal and abandoning the Kurds with no apparent guidance from the Joint Chiefs or any apparent attempts at diplomacy. We know that there wasn't any plans made for a withdrawal, and we also know the Kurds were blindsided.

The area was somewhat stable, before the... what some are describing as a "called bluff".

I think they tried for months to talk Turkey out of invading.

Oh no you don’t. The area was going to become unstable regardless I contend. Remember last Friday the bracketed shelling of our observation post by the Turks? They’ve been threatening for two years.

If you want to play that logic stewie we would have had to send MORE troops to “keep the peace” while an ethnic war is conducted in musical chairs around them. No thank you.

I might agree on this if there were some decent insight into what transpired in the phone call. Call it TDS if you like, but I don't default to believing anything Trump says, nor trust his motives.

Other than that, go hug a tree and suck on a pacifier.

The Dems and the media would criticize him for expanding the conflict if we engaged, and criticize him for doing nothing if he didn't.

I’m loving that for once I’ve been accused of being a tree hugger 😂

I can’t deny a pacifist approach to my responses in this thread. In fact I think I’ve been very aggressive in my pacifist stance! 😀

It’s just been so damn long... 🏳

dont be obtuse, its because of ish like this
Four Americans Killed, Three Wounded, in Syria Bomb Blast

no reason for us to be there. no reason for your brothers in arms to be dead because of this. I know approx 30 active military guys, I would say about half are boots on ground types. None of them want to be involved over there at all. most have no clue what purpose they even serve, or who they are protecting. The Turks from the Kurds? The Kurds from the Syrians and Turks?

we have spent how many thousands of lives? How much security and stability have we actually brought? we cant stay indefinitely.

50 years ago at Woodstock they were the "make love not war" party. Now they're upset that John Bolton is out of the mix.
