Stop saying Boyd is a scrambler or dual threat. It says on his scout profile "He is more pocket passer than dual-threat." Yes he is mobile but he is a pocket passer, 26 tds to 6 picks last year. It seems all some posters know is he is a black qb so they say he is a dual-threat and imply he is not a good passer. All his recruiting profiles rave about his passing but say he can run but they do not classify him as a dual-threat. Like some one else said think Donovan McNabb. McNabb has had great passing numbers in the NFL but can or could run.
I don't see how Kiffin would tell Boyd anything other than he is a perfect fit for his offense and sell him on that. It's not like we have a better prospect on our radar for this class or one that's a better fit for Kiffin's offensive style.
One of Kiffin's next trips better be to Hampton to talk to this kid and get him securely on the boat.
Boyd would have had to compete no matter who the coach was going to be. Some around here have been penciling him in as the starter, but I think that too is premature.
I live in Hampton and he is still committed to UT. He is much more elusive than he is quick, makes guys miss rather than outrunning them. Ive been to every one of his games and because Pheobus High is so huge on line and has a good RB they dont have to pass much but when he does he is spot on and excellent touch on the deep ball. He is the real deal and wants to be in a pro style offense and not a spread. I think he will fit in perfect with what Kiffin wants to do in the coming years on offense. Look out, his name will be one everyone remembers after his years in orange, mark it down.
Hey dummie, ever hear of Heath Shuler? Hell, even Crompton was considered a dual-threat QB before thie year. I can also think of a couple black NFL QB's who are not dual-threat QB's. So what's your point there black panther?
I still think Terrell Pryor's style at OSU this season is the right way to think about a Boyd-directed offense.
not at all pryor hasnt proven he can throw the ball down field any better than uncle rico....boyd has gotten he high ranking because of his arm and feet, the only reason anyone knew of pryor in high school was because of his scrambling
