Not to be a wet blanket but FY2021 started Oct 2020 and immigration from March 2020 onward came to pretty much a screeching halt and hasn't really rebounded much. So comparing 2015 to now would definitely show a massive drop in immigration. Year on year pre Covid it looks like it's more around a 10% decline or less.

Not a wet blanket, it's in the interest of accuracy and the point remains. The article says it was an 11.5% decline from 2016 to 2018. That projects to a 22% reduction over 4 years, which is a huge number.

MacArthur screwed up in Korea by ignoring reports of Chinese crossing the border but of course Truman didn't help.

McArthur was almost a one trick pony. At some point when the enemy had overextended, he liked to swoop in at a weak point and slice the logistics tail, but beyond that McArthur seemed to be more bluster than effective military leader. It's a very effective game if done well. MacArthur also relied on Willoughby for intelligence - maybe the most inept guy at intelligence anyone could find - which doesn't say much for McArthur either.

No rivalry, I just know you as the poster who seems to get pissy too easily and seems to try to argue about literally anything.

I wonder what the difference between Japan/South Korea/Germany and Vietnam/Afghanistan/Iraq was. Because you are right it isn't like nations didn't have to be rebuilt after WWII.

Japan and Germany were prosperous nations before falling into the hands of despots, so perhaps that has something to do with it? However South Korea was not, yet eventually became a prosperous nation out of nothing.

Different values within the cultures.

Willoughby and just about all of MacArthur's staff were afraid to counter what he already believed. But yeah, Willoughby was useless as tit on a boar hog.

The Inchon invasion plan was brilliant but incredibly risky.

As best I can tell democrats have shifted the narrative to their tried and true "Republicans are racists".

Bingo. Throw Trumps name out there and bring up racism, immigration, covid, anything to deflect and shift the narrative from the fact that their Trump alternative has yet again screwed the pooch and made another mess of epic proportions. It’s just like clockwork.

THIS! I don't think people of average intelligence who are paying attention are going to fall for it.

They are splitting hairs. The fact is that no matter what happens, the same type of people that ran the show and called the shots in DC during Korea and Vietnam are the same types that are calling the shots today. It is will always be a debacle and a waste of resources as long as that is the case.

What good are all of those battlefield wins right now?

I'm not arguing that point. I'm saying reconstruction after warfare has become the biggest racket out there for politicians and the "defense industry."

The willingness of the people to take what they've been given and build upon it. When they aren't willing to support what is given, they crumble. See Afghanistan.
See most of the Southern Hemisphere except what was settled by the Europeans.

Again, you can't come to that conclusion based on your chart. Does the other chart posted by the OP showing that deportations dropped under Trump support your argument that he was an anti-Hispanic racist?

I posted a link with the chart. The information is there.

I think the main problem was, and probably still is.. "What is our goal in Afghanistan?", which I don't think we ever really had a long-term plan. What's more appalling to me is the behavior of the surrounding countries with the same culture, who are entirely unwilling to help them, except for maybe Qatar.

I can't figure out where the evac planes are going. ADS-B turns on before they fly over the UAE and then back off. Months ago a lot of planes were going into a base just SW of Doha, and now you can't see any activity there or anywhere else after the planes pass the UAE.

Yeah, and what exactly happened after the Vietnam domino fell?

What obligation do these countries in the immediate line of fire have upon themselves to unify and defend themselves? Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and India should be able to neutralize China without us being involved. We can't afford to protect these other countries half a world a way from Chinese commies when we have a Chinese commie problem right here at home.

Think about the WW2 dominoes and not getting involved before Germany gained a lot of ground and resources. On the other part, we definitely have some housecleaning to do at home.

Show me one law passed or one executive order that showed Trump caused that. What about the lack of deportations under Trump? Are you intentionally avoiding it?

What does lack of deportations have to do with the conversation? The question is about whether or not Republicans support legal immigration, not whether or not Trump deports people or is a Hispanic hating racist. Stay on target, bro.

I'm not sure what showing you anything will do, since I already presented a smoking gun and you resisted for half a dozen posts and now you kinda get it but still need more proof.

Off the top of my head, everybody remembers the travel ban which was a restriction on legal immigration.

I remember his admin specifically scaling back on visas given to the spouses of skilled professionals, something that doesn't even make sense.

Deportations would mean he is anti-Hispanic immigration would it not? It goes against your argument so you tend to look over it. That intellectual honesty thing you keep harping on.

LOL, the travel ban because of covid?

I’m sure the Special Ops guys appreciate that.
Somebody's head should roll if this was leaked. And dude posting it should be ashamed.

Not cool to advertise it at all, but ... it is of no surprise to the Afghans or anyone else paying attention. The ineptitude and absolute bungling of this situation ensured this was going to happen. These idiots have screwed this withdrawal up so bad that there is no choice, but to now go back in and stay awhile. That’s right, they f’d it up so bad that they have ensured us having to stay when the objective was to leave. It’s sad but true.
