Well @kiddiedoc seems to think it’s a pretty safe bet this takes the cake.
Time will tell.

We've got thousands of American citizens trapped in a tough ass spot, and the DOD doesn't seem to even know the number. If the Taliban find them before we do, what will they do? Given the numbers, it's almost a certainly that happens to at least some.

We allowed the release of c. 5,000 Al Qaeda and ISIS prisoners. We'll never know the exact outcome of this misstep. Next time something goes "BOOM," remember this.

We have surrendered billions of dollars of vehicles, weaponry, helicopters, guns, and ammunition to a terrorist force.

The Afghan nationals are so desperate to get out, knowing what fate awaits them, they are willing to toss their babies over fences and cling to jets as they take off.

Yeah, it's bad.

Missionaries and teachers had the finger on the pulse of what was going down, naivety need not apply.

If they chose to stay in a war torn country that is knowingly being taken over by people who would as soon kill them as look at them, they are on their own - not our problem.

At least now you feel the misery that 81 million suffered through for the last four.

Sucks, don't it?

I think you feel the misery too plus you probably feel like an idiot. It's like being for the Pruitt hire while many didn't want him but when we go 3-7 you think it's funny.

Oh I get it, I just don't believe that the people who are screeching about this would have been anywhere near as vocal if the same sh*t occurred 12 months ago. And it would have.... exactly like this.

I know you're an OG Trump hater, but I don't think you're prepared to argue that a pullout under Trump could have been any or as worse than this debacle.

Why would I feel like an idiot? I didn't vote for Joe. I voted for Jo Jo,

Nothing about this situation bothers me in the slightest. My guess is that if truth were told, many of you don't either - many are just feigning outrage before popping some hot pockets in the microwave and plopping down to watch the Big Bang Theory. On here though, it's like you're all narrating the Hindenburg catching on fire.

Ever watch that movie "Tears of the Sun"?

Oh look, are you going to invent an argument that I'm supporting Biden again?

Do you ever get tired of being back handed?

No need to invent one, the "I dont care, they deserve what they get" is stupid enough.

Lol, by a PAB like you? Never happened.

Yeah, it's bad.

Worse than 19 American soldiers dead and a public defeat from Blackhawk Down? What about Bay of Pigs? Pearl Harbor?

And after 20 years and hundreds and thousand of Billions of dollars you are now calling it a blunder? Where we not supposed to leave the ANA anything to fight with?

And why doesn’t the DOD know the number? Maybe because the majority that are still left were there on missionary, humanitarian, aid relief, and personal reasons? Even two weeks ago they could have just caught a flight but didn’t. Maybe you should look at the DOS for those numbers. There is some personal responsibility there, no?

This sucks, it was a screwup and it LOOKS bad. Sure. But it’s legit bad, because some afghans can’t get out (that couldn’t have gotten out anyway, at least not to the U.S.)? That the Taliban outmatched an ANA force trained under three previous presidents?

Yes - Biden screwed this up. Not sure anybody disagrees. But it’s Bad, based on the above, and it MIGHT play out different?

It wouldn't be any different.

How so? Allegedly, Biden scrapped the Trump plan to get Americans out first before withdrawing the military.

Look, our military pulled a Lane Kiffin and this Admin didn't even think to look a month down the road even when intelligence was telling them it could happen. I said a few days ago there was always a report filed on such an occurrence and sometimes, dare say most of the time, it's so outlandish it gets buried in an official report.

Well, when the liberal media is reporting that every intel service, the JCS and DoD were saying the same thing and Biden was ignoring them, it's no longer the "minority report" I thought it was. I owe it to @volinbham to say I was wrong.

Anyway, Trump was a boorish prick that spent too much time on Twitter, but I will give him credit for mostly staying out of the military's way when conducting operations. The only (public) time he bucked their requests was over that drone shootdown from Iran. And really, that would have caused more harm than good in the long run.

Yes, the Taliban would have eventually taken over. Yes, even with Trump, this would have been happening. However, I don't think we would have been scrambling like this nor would Trump be a complete buffoon like Biden has been over the last week.

Trump legitimized the Taliban, gave them 14 months to draw up and plan and capitulated to letting 5,000 of their fighters out of prison.

He's also recently bragged about getting this started to the point where Joe couldn't stop it.

Sorry if I disagree that Donny wouldn't have sh*t the bed here too.

I don't recall that, no.

It's a Bruce Willis action flick that deals with SEALs going in and rescuing Americans in Nigeria during a hostile takeover of the government. Kinda the same thing we're seeing now. More or less an 80s style action flick that's long on action, short on plot. But a decent flick.

Anyway, here's my thing with the missionaries, teachers and whatnot. I'm with you that we cut them loose if they want to stay and yes, I agree they should have seen this coming. However, I think we also have a moral obligation as a country to at least offer them a way out since there's probably not any kind of civilian flights coming in or out. If they turn it down, it's on them.

Maybe they didn't think it was going to happen this quick either? Maybe they listened to the incompetent fool who's the POTUS say the country was in good hands and decided it was safe enough to stay? I don't know, but we should get them out if possible though I think $2,000 is a bit steep for a cargo net seat on a C-130...

The .gov states they are in daily talks to allow for the safe passage of these people and that anyone who gets to the airport gets a ride home.

Not sure what else would be expected from the .gov on this front.
