Certainly mixed messages going around. Americans are now being told not to go to the airport due to safety concerns. Reporters outside of airport are contradicting the President's and your friends info. My guess is conditions vary widely depending on which commander/warlords militia you're dealing with. Seems like a huge cluster to me.

I literally have a picture of Americans at the embassy yesterday grilling food and relaxing.

So, I don’t know. I’m going by a literal first hand account of somebody that couldn’t care less about the politics. He just said bro the Taliban wants us to leave and we are not doing it fast enough. For Americans they are not stopping anybody and are trying to get us out as quick as possible.

I haven’t seen any reports, despite the dramatics of the press reports, of any US citizens being kidnapped or killed. So his report, in addition to me knowing him for years and I trust him, makes sense at this point.

Don’t get me wrong nobody is leaving embassy grounds to go tooling around Kabul right now, but it seems like the withdrawal is being allowed to happen.

You think Trump left a checklist and Biden went by it one by one? Yea, that's it...Trump left a faulty checklist and tricked us into using it. You're gonna have to suck it up...and when these stupid democrats ask for ridiculous amounts of tax money in the next 2 weeks, we should all collectively say kiss our azz. Wait till you see how much cash has been simply abandoned. Not just the equipment already worth billions.

I'm not discounting him or his info. Just stating that while his experience may be true. That he is in a sheltered area not roaming the streets like some reporters, and locals are doing. That from what I know about the Taliban and militia based forces in general, that the treatment of people would vary widely depending on which one you're dealing with which may explain the great range of reports we're getting.

My big criticism of Trump administration was announcing a timeline of withdrawal..but from reports he had a plan to have the military be the last out and shared it with allies..Joe either deviated or didn't follow the plan at all...which is fine but he didn't share the changes with allies and they were left scrambling at the last minute to get their own people out.

Warm fuzzy from the State Dept... Biden is looking at contingencies to assist Americans get to the airport, if that becomes necessary.

I would have to say if you ask 6,000 folks stuck there to raise your hand if you think you require assistance getting to the airport....you'd see 6,000 hands in the air.

It seems to me from day one that Biden tried to reverse everything he could that Trump had in place. He never cared about any agreement or arrangements the last administration made.
All of a sudden after screwing this up he is trying to place blame on Trump. Nobody is buying it.

Worst strategy in decades. A terrible strategy like this could've been drawn up in a high school of progressive teachers if they weren’t war hawks.

This is what worries me the most. The Taliban have been pretty chill with Americans to this point despite some reports to the contrary. But how long before that patience wears thin?

And if they decide to change their stance on not harassing us since we're taking our sweet ass time leaving, this could turn out worse than Dien Bien Phu.

The SECDEF responded to reports of Americans being detained and beaten as unacceptable. Not false, unacceptable. I really hope your buddies in the embassy are out of the embassy and somewhere else preferably out of country on Sept 1.
