"I'm not blaming Trump" but "If Trump was still in the White House he would have done the same thing" so Trump is guilty of gross negligence. Did I get that right, LG?

No.

This is simple, stop making it so complicated.

If Trump were in the WH now he'd have done the same thing Biden did because they both trusted the bad advice they got that the Afghans could handle this and the Taliban were not as strong as it turns out they are.

If this was so simple, then why did so many high ranking people get it wrong? Shouldn't we fire the military generals responsible for the false info?

So now you're blaming Trump for what he might have done?

It really is a disease.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken won't dispute U.S. has to ask Taliban for PERMISSION to evacuate Americans as he admits 'they are in control of Kabul – that is the reality'

Secretary of State Antony Blinken didn't deny on Sunday that the U.S. has to ask the Taliban for permission to get Americans out of Afghanistan as the developing situation in Kabul continues to present obstacles for evacuations.

'Someone in our audience might listen to you, Mr. Secretary, and say, 'Oh, so we have to ask the Taliban for permission for American citizens to leave.' True or not true?' CBS News' Face the Nation fill in host Major Garrett asked Blinken of the 'agreement' between the Islamic militant group and Washington.

I would think there is going to be some reorganization and some revamping of the way the info and advice are generated.

This may come as a shock to you, but there were more than 2 names in the election to choose from.

There really weren't and likely won't be. Those other guys have no chance and just siphon votes away from the two candidates. I used to think the way you do ... I think the Perot experience was what changed my point of view. Without the other distractions, GA would probably have elected at least one GOP senator and perhaps Trump.

There are some issues with this. First you are assuming Biden wasn't getting good Intel. Others in the chain are saying that isn't true, so at this point we just don't know, perhaps Biden was listening to the wrong people. To say Trump world have handled it in the same fashion is just wishful thinking because that's what you want to believe. The fact is there's no way of knowing.

He's an idiot, but if something happens, his handlers will respond. After this cluster****, he'll be more likely to listen to sound strategy. Assuming we have military leaders still capable of that. Which if we don't, we're screwed anyway.

His handlers were the ones who called the shots in this clusterflub.

I can just see the taliban discovering g all that military equipment thinking it has to be a trap. No way they left us all this stuff. Biden is mentally done but no way they'd run off and let us have this stuff. Then arguing about who climbed in first. 🤣

How dare we ask that they live up to their commitments to pay their fair share. Funny, libs never cared about "fair share" in this instance.

If we pay for European defense, then Europeans can spend on social programs - especially including "free medical care" for all. Then our libs can point out how great the European socialist model is and how backwards we are and how much we waste on defense. It's a shell game, and libs will never admit our defense spending makes socialized programs possible for Europe, that a free Europe wouldn't have those programs if they paid the full defense cost, or that the alternative would have been more European nations in the USSR.

There is a huge difference in other countries thinking our CIC is a load mouth bore and them thinking our CIC is a weak incompetent dementia victim.

Gotta disagree just a bit considering Trump's mouth. He seemed far more a "boor" than a "bore". What Trump said never failed to excite somebody - usually the left, and when they couldn't nail him on substance they went with how he said it.

I've heard these current ribbons referred to as "I was there" medals.

I always looked to see what was above all the commendation ribbons, but now there are all kinds of "meritorious service" awards being slotted in between awards for valor. Even the Bronze Star has two categories - one for valor and one for "meritorious service", yet most people always think it is for valor.

This. Whether you agree with if we should have went into Afghanistan or not, it was in response to 9/11 and many of our allies came to our aid and put planes in the air, ships on the sea, and boots on the ground. If we get attacked again will they trust our government?

Agree. We stupidly went to Afghanistan for chest thumping, and so the government could cover the fact that it failed to do the job of security at home ... and still is failing. They have no clue who is here, how to stop them, or what nefarious plans anybody has, but it's definitely white nationalists that are the bad guys.
