This keeps reminding me of an old movie - The Fearless Vampire Killers (or: Pardon Me, but Your Teeth Are in My Neck). A Roman Polanski horror/comedy with Sharon Tate. A professor and assistant go to Transylvania to kill all the vampires and save the world. As they escape in a sleigh (sure of success), the girl turns and bites the assistant ... and they then spread vampires into the world. Seems like it's very possible we turned a non problem into a real problem - complete with arming and training the enemy.

He also said there is no indication that the taliban is blocking people from reaching the airport. I'm sure Psaki will circle back and let us know how those kids are going to get out. IMO, there is a very good chance that if Trump were in office, the same group (or similar group) of experts and advisors would have sabotaged a pull out in order to maintain justification for staying in Afghanistan a lot longer.

It's definitely the 31st in Afghanistan now, and MOOSE43 (USAF C-17) is flying a track that previous flights into Afghanistan have used. Over the Gulf of Oman south of Iran right now - be interesting to see if it turns north over Pakistan which is the normal route in and out. We may never know because a lot of times they drop off radar about this point.
