There are symbolic gestures done by Congress all the time. I seen to remember some very prominent Congress men and women put on some tradition African attire and kneel for a stages photo opp, I guess they didn't know they chose the traditional garments of a slave trading tribe though.

Point is it's a simple gesture.

Agreed - it’s absurd they will kneel for a social justice photo op but not read off names of those killed in action while trying to evacuate Americans from a hostile country.

"Anyone that wants to get out, can get out". That was just old Joe and the State Department being folksy again, he didn't really mean it.

Your quote is wrong.

On purpose.

And efforts continue with assistance of allies and even the Taliban to some extent.

Don't change the facts to weave a new, false narrative.

It was almost like it was done it the most disruptive way possible. Interesting...

That's why I am not in the camp that thinks this would have been any different had Trump been in there. I think the same yahoos and advisors (or advisors cut from the same cloth) would have given Trump equally as bad information and execution.
Possible, but the truth is that we don't know how Trump or anyone else, Republican or Democrat, would have handled it. We know how Biden handled it, and it was chaotic, and inept. It should have and could have been handled in a much better way.

Is this another one of those things that it's only okay when the left does it? Like "whataboutism"?

Seriously though, the facts support that Biden screwed this up and broke promises. I think you're well aware of that. I think it just pains you to admit it. This goes beyond politics, LG. Biden failed. Our top military brass failed. Our intelligence people failed. There was so much epic failure in all of this. And quite simply, I don't see how anyone can deny it. We know for a fact, people were left behind. We know for a fact, Biden previously stated we wouldn't leave anyone behind. No one needs to change the facts. The facts clearly show how poorly this was handled.

It is a simple gesture, but it's also one that would acknowledge how poorly this was handled by a Democrat President, which Pelosi doesn't want to do. It's another example of politics above country. They do things that bring positive press, not things that will lead to negative press. These are the people who have been selected to "lead" our country. Both sides, they are party before they are Americans. A Democrat is a Democrat first. A Republican is a Republican first. They're Americans second. This is the type of mentality that needs to be eliminated from our government, but unfortunately, I think it's far too ingrained to accomplish that.

The actual quote is worse lol

"And if you're American force -- if there's American citizens left, we're gonna stay to get them all out," Biden said.

We didn't stay.

US troops will stay until all Americans are out of Afghanistan, even if past Aug. 31 deadline: Biden to ABC News

Are there Americans stranded there who wanted to get out that we did not get out?

No. There are Americans who wanted to STAY, at least for now. and we will help them if they change their minds.

There are also Afghans who helped us and there are anecdotal reports, some of which are likely true, that there remain some who want to leave but are either not sure how, don't have the requisite proof or were too scared. We have said we will help them and we are doing what we can. The vast, vast majority of the 100k + we have evacuated were of that group.

This is grossly inaccurate even admitted by the admin.

am I missing something or are you claiming there are no Americans left that want to get out?

any link on the vast, vast # of the Afghans we got out being the ones who helped us? SIV holders were a small percentage of the Afghans that got out.

This is you taking what Biden said about prior warnings from months ago (when he blamed the ones stranded) and applying it to the last few weeks, which is an inaccurate representation.

I think he does. I think he has convinced himself that Biden didn't do such a bad job. He's trying to reconcile his politics with his conscience. Sadly, his politics are outweighing the truth.

No, I don't believe LG believes it. LG is just doing what he does and that's blindly defend his team.
